To stay with 1909 is fine, I use it, it works great.

Maybe you need a new SSD to transfer your 1909 over to.

Run a SFC System File check.

Run command prompt as Admin and type in SFC /scannow

    that`s a space between C and /

I'm not too fussed on the version I'm on, I'm more worried about this being a hard ware issue and which one. What do those tests tell you mate? I have been considering replacing my ram and hard drive but I want to be 100% on the culprit. By the way I went to check what kind of DDR Ram I have and noticed this, is this normal?

It says 3 of 6 slots used, if you have 4 sticks in there, something`s wrong.

It seems to be saying 1 of your 4 GB sticks is not working.

    4GB + 2GB + 2GB = 8GB

Yeah exactly, so i'm pinning one of the 4gb rams as the culprit. I'm using my pc so far with the 4gb's missing, still seeing how I go. Night mate, thank you for your input!

Might someone be able to tell what the test results of my hard drive tests mean? should I be worried, is it fine? 50/50? Thank you :)

    Update: The Story So Far...

I noticed the issue has gone a little off topic, but this would explain a issue I was having in another thread where my pc would freeze, random grey/black screens etc. It all started to pile up.

I will try the latest 2004 update sometime, but in the meanwhile it seems I was having hardware issue when i thought my windows was acting up which prompted me to format and install latest version which would not boot of my usb but 1909 would.

Vellaura before you try to upgrade to Ver 2004 you must fix your hardware.

    - Your HDD has some errors. This precedes a disk failure. Backup your data ASAP and look for a drive replacement. A 1T SSD will cost almost same price of a HDD. Bigger HDD are still competitive. (I only buy first grade WD HDD - Black or Gold)

    - You should never mix memory brand sticks, specially if they have different speeds and timings. Ideal is to use a matched pair, one stick on channel A and another on channel B.

    Memory stay energized
even if the computer is off. To insert or remove memory sticks you MUST remove the power connector from the wall outlet and wait 30sec.

Remove all sticks and apply a contact cleaner on the stick contact and on the connector.
Insert only one stick and run a memory test (not under windows). When finished replace it with another stick.
If all them pass, insert all sticks and run a complete memory test.

100% agree with you. My computer ran fine the whole night with that 1, 4gb not registering, so I was satisfied and decided to physically remove that RAM, when I did however and booted up pc was saying I only had 4gb total, I might have removed the wrong one, will swap too see if I can get 8gbs again.

Thankfully my data is all backed up, thank you for the warning! Despite the issues it's been going okay but probably not for long. I do have another hard drive but I only see it when I do a fresh Windows install. How can I get the other one to appear so I can run the same test? I only see one in my computer.

Thank you for the warning, once I figure out which 4gb is bad I will try to do a memtest on each one all though that is a burden on its own trying to boot.

I can't thank you all enough. I feel like we've made progress on pinpointing the issue, RAM and a declining harddrive. Almost out of the woods. Off to bed now, will continue tomorrow :)

Edit: in regards to buying a new ssd/hdd, do i need to worry about compatibility of any kind considering my system is old?

The HD Tune results were incomplete.
The benchmark test was aborted displaying a read error.
The error scan displayed bad blocks.

Were happened with Sea Tools with the links in post #13?

As Megahertz commented backup any important files and replace the drive.

Use the Crucial scanner to view some replacement options:

    @Vellaura,

I would highly suggest upgrading the failing Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to an SSD. Any 2.5" SATA SSD will be compatible. I have had good luck with Samsung and Sandisk. I have not had any luck with AData, I would stay away from them.

This, for example, also includes a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter you might need:

The seagate tools didn't detect my hard drives, they might be too old. Should I try run the scan again for HD tune?

Everything is all backed up, however I'm
In Melbourne atm and we are almost nearing the end of stage 4 restrictions. I'm going to try single out the rams and see if I can make do until it's safe to get out and shops open up.

I'm not sure but ssds here are quite a bit more expensive, especially for 1TB. I can get a 1TB harddrive for about 50 aus, which would do my job. Considering this drive has lasted this long and is still running, even if it's about to say goodbye.

I'm still pinning the ram for my issues, going to run further tests. Will get back with results.

How can I go about getting my other harddrive to appear in my computer?

For the drive there are additional tests:

    Run Macrorit:
Download Macrorit Disk Scanner Portable 4.3.5

    Run GSmartcontrol:
Identify your drive in the list
On the Self-Tests tab select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click Execute (this test may take hours to complete so plan to run overnight)
    Download GSmartControl from SourceForge.net

    Run Crystal Disk standard edition:
    CrystalDiskInfo – Crystal Dew World

Run HD Sentinel: (free or trial edition)
Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring
For each drive post images of these tabs into the thread:
    Overview tab
    Temperature
    SMART
    Disk performance
