Upgrade WIN7 To WIN10 Using Cloned WIN7 SSD: Can Both Licenses Remain?

I have a WIN 7 cloned SSD and want to attempt the WIN 10 Upgrade on it keeping all my files and apps.
In case the Upgrade fails I will still have my original WIN7 SSD and can reinsert it.

Question is: once I Upgrade the clone to WIN 10, will I still be able to use my original WIN7 SSD too or will its license be deactivated? I'm trying to plan ahead in case the upgrade is not be successful so I can easily revert to WIN7 by just reinserting the original SSD?

In other words, when I type-in the WIN7 license code upon upgrading to WIN10 does it automatically deactivate my copy of WIN7 or start a clock running on its demise (especially since the WIN 10 Upgrade may not be fully successful and only time would tell)? From everything I have read, the free WIN10 upgrade is still available if you have a valid WIN7 code to insert.

Only way to use both os key is in virtual machine with 7 and 10 or 10 and 7 so you aren't doing that
In a gray area
On different ssd's or hdd should be fine ms doesn't deactivate keys unless they are in use at the same time.
Technically you need another win-7 key.

That violates the End Users License Agreement (EULA) for both Windows 7 and Windows 10.

When you upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 the activation of the Windows 7 is not affected. However, the EULA permits you to only have one instance of Windows installed for use on one device. In the case of the cloned SSD, you will remain in compliance with the EULA if only one of the SSDs is connected to the computer at a time. In the case of the virtual machine - you would have two instances of Windows installed with only 1 license: the host Windows OS would be 1 instance and the guest OS installed in the VM would be the second instance, which would require 2 separate licenses.

Thanks. The 2 SSDs would only be used one at a time and the WIN7 one would not be used going forward except if the WIN 10 SSD displayed glitches from the upgrade.
