I have tried many solutions to this problem and my hard disk seems not to boot. I don't want to format it. I want to gain access once more, get my files then format it afterwards. Can i get files to override local disk C: ? This is the partition that has windows 10 installed.

I am changing boot device to the hard disk that has issues when the pc is starting. I have the hard disk connected to my laptop externally. I will put it back once its fixed.

I have attached video link showing this error.

The INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE bug check has a value of 0x0000007B. This bug check indicates that the Microsoft Windows operating system has lost access to the system partition during startup.

If the PC suddenly loses access to the system partition during startup, then the “0x0000007b” error screen is displayed and the boot process is halted.

    • Make sure Windows installed hard drive connected correctly.
    • Make sure Windows installed hard drive first boot device from within BIOS Setup Utility.

Once you enter BIOS, go to Advanced section and change Set AHCI Mode to Enabled.

Please boot your computer with Windows Setup Media and from Windows Recovery Environment start the Command Prompt.

Please type below commands into Command Prompt and press Enter key.

Following commands will repair Master Boot Record (MBR), Boot Sector and BCD Store.

    Code:
    Bootrec /FixMbr

    Bootrec /FixBoot

    Bootrec /scanos

    Bootrec /RebuildBcd

I had this a few times after an upgrade to 1909 recently, never had this before.
Got that message after reboot to install updates.

Each time, I got it going again by switching it off and restarting, each time after 3rd attemp it diverts to a repair job and that "fixed" it.
-I also had the troubleshooter going for windows updates, which correct a few faults.

This month however , I had similar updates .NET + 1909 and everything went smooth, the difference was .NET updated after the reboot. I rebooted multiple times, switched off , no problem.
I assume they fixed something effecting my PC.

That error code is usually seen on XP only, because of missing/wrong/bad AHCI driver.
(XP didn't have AHCI support included, even with SP3)

OTOH, on 10, even with NVME on my other Ryzen system, there was no issue with a storage controller driver being missing. Even on 7, that error code is seen infrequently, if at all.

When I was using 7, even without third party drivers, my SATA drive was seen, even with SATA 3 and on a motherboard much later than 7!

    Options are:
    a) troubleshoot
    b) test the drive
    c) perform a reset save files or equivalent
    d) backup any important files > clean install

Indicate which of the above options you prefer.
