How can I install Windows 10 (not upgrade) without losing my files?

I'm current on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 (OEM key) and stuck in a boot loop. More on that here.

I'd love to get it back to start again so I can backup my files on cloud and then do a Windows 10 upgrade. So if you guys know how, please do tell.

If not, then is there a way to install Windows 10 through an (iso) installation disk without losing my files?
I have two partitions, where Windows is installed and the other one for storing my files.

Hi, you can only upgrade if you can boot normally.

If you can't do that and your Windows partition is still intact, and you have many programs installed, one way to transfer them is to buy a 1 use license for either Laplink PC Mover or Easeus Todo PCtrans, create a disk image of C: (you do use disk imaging I hope?).

Then - preferably on a new disk so you can keep the old one as additional backup, clean install Win 10, then install one of those programs and using the disk image as course, use it to transfer your programs and data and accounts (can be done selectively).

Caveat- check which of those now supports using a disk image like that as it's some years since I did that.

welcome to the forum. If you upgrade you dont loose any files if you can boot to upgrade and do a clean install and your data is on another partition they will be safe. Its all ways best to play safe you can boot from a free linux dvd and copy files off to a safe place
