Can I download latest Win10-64 install file & use a 2017 Prod Key?

I have WIN10-64 installation files (msu & iso) from 2017 with a valid Product Key from the same year. This Win10 was purchased using an attractive educational discount from my college before I graduated.

I finally have a use to upgrade a PC running Win7. I started the install but made the mistake of allowing it to get upgrade files. 3 hours later, it had still not finished that step. Tried to cancel and got the "Cleanup..." message that would take a few minutes. Was still running 90 min later, so I used Task Manager to end the setup process. Internet connection is limited to a WiFi adapter (2.4g) as no cable connection is avail at the PC location.

    (1) I am checking to see if I can instead download the most current Win10 installation file, which might require minimal upgrading if any, and still use the never-used Product Key I have from 2017??

    (2) Would that be the preferred approach in order to save the lengthy Win10 upgrade search and downloads process? What site would I use?

    (3) Will whatever remnants of the cancelled Win10 setup be simply overwritten and not cause any problems?

Note: I am using a PC (2014 vintage) which currently has three 2TB hard disks installed. Disk 0 is the current Win7-64 installation, and Disk1 and Disk2 are clones of Disk0. I will be upgrading Disk2 to Win10-64. I have also installed EasyBCD 2.4 on Disk0 to handle the intended Dual Boot option for Win7 and Win10 while I transition several large music studio applications to Win10.

Appreciate any guidance that can be offered.

    Welcome to TenForums!

If the key that you have is a valid Win 10 key, it should work fine for any version of Win 10 up to and including the most recent so long as the Edition (Home, Pro, etc.) matches the Edition that the key is for.

You can download Win 10 from here:

You can choose to either perform an upgrade or install it completely clean, however you prefer.

What sort of product key is it?

I've heard of an "education" license, which appears to be a variant of the Enterprise version. That used a form of activation that may not be available to you now.

If it was a retail license purchased at a discount, that'd be OK.

    Bobkn...
It was a college student discounted price from the college bookstore. Oddly, I used the newest download and upgraded an existing Win7 OS on a seperate drive in same PC and it never prompted for a Product Key. It must have used the Win7 product key, although I cloned that drive from another drive in the same system, so I appear to be successfully dual booting from either drive.
