    Install Original Version/Edition

Hi Everyone. I have an HP Omen (latest Ryzen model) that came with Windows 10 Home. I wanted Pro because I needed some of the features. I usually to upgrade via the store, but don't know how long I'm keeping this laptop so I bought an upgrade key off eBay. Now I can't activate Windows (big surprise, I know). It says I have Enterprise edition.

What I want to do is get back to Windows 10 Home, and just purchase the upgrade via the store. I tried a reset on the laptop (selecting to download Windows) and it just put Enterprise back on there.

How can I get Home edition back on there, but still keep everything that came on the laptop (drivers, special HP software, etc.). Or can I get the original product key and just activate with that? I'm assuming it's baked in the bios or somewhere.,

    Thanks...

You can't go back to Home by just downgrading. The factory reset option might work:
    Reset Windows 10

You would want the "Restore Factory Settings" option.

If you don't have the "Restore Factory Settings" option, the only way to go back to home will be to do a clean install of Windows 10.

You can try this, but I have no idea if it works:

Also, I would suggest running the product key you purchased through Showkey Plus and see what it says about it:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, the registry trick worked great. I updated the registry to be Windows 10 Home, downloaded the ISO and installed. Everything worked fine, and it used my OEM product key. So now I can do a proper upgrade.
