HOW TO INSTALL DUAL BOOT 10/7 SYSTEM ON NVMe DRIVE WITH 10 FIRST?

hello everyone :) as much as things have changed in the past 10 years my love of puters hasnt...
since my BIG system has been packed away im doing jobs for other people & here's my first big challenge.

they have an NVMe SSD drive with windows 10 version 2004 on it already... ive partitioned the drive to get it ready for a windows 7 install for a dual boot...the problem is after the 7 installer loads the temp files, the mouse & keyboard stop working at the SET UP NEXT window...ive contacted samsung to find out there was a driver problem with windows 7 & NVMe drives which ive already installed what i thought was the hot fix for ...but now it still happens so ive found a few more options but im not sure which option i should go with since it can very quickly turn into a bottomless pit LOL..

CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME THE FASTEST & EASIEST OPTION I HAVE?
im trying to avoid installing on other drives & cloning partitions...BLA BLA BLA since acronis can only clone entire drives ^ NOT separate partitions...if i can install onto a regular HD & then update that version of 7 to work on an SSD drive maybe i can find a program that can clone partitions?

    thanks for any help

Been a long time since 2009 I last used Acronis. However, I believe it should allow to clone partition like any other backup software. Most people use : Macrium Reflect free for this.

But.... Here's what I would do to install Windows 7 on the partition that you've already reserved on the SSD.

    1. From Windows 10, copy the install.wim under sources folder of the Windows 7 disk to Windows 10 desktop
    2. Open Admin command prompt then navigate to desktop: cd %USERPROFILE%\desktop
    3. Type: dism /Apply-Image /ImageFile:install.wim /Index:1 /ApplyDir:X:\
      NOTE:
replace X with the drive letter of the partition you intend to install Windows 7
    4. then type: bcdboot X:\Windows
    5. Reboot the PC, you should have a menu for dual boot, select Windows 7

    I really like this method:

    Hyper-V - Native Boot VHD

Using this method, you install Windows to a Virtual Hard Disk and then native boot it. The ability to natively boot a VHD is a fantastic capability of Windows and also will keep that copy of Windows nicely isolated from your main installation.

In fact, I like this capability so much that I wrote myself a program to deploy Windows to a VHD and add it to my boot menu automatically

Win 7 installation files don't have new drivers required to install on new hardware.
You have to add those new drivers (USB3.x, SATA, MVMe) to the win 7 installation drive.
Open a thread on Installation & Setup - Windows 7 Help Forums and we will help you to install win 7 on your computer.

topgundcp & NavyLCDR, I don't think it will work.

Win 7 doesn't have the MVMe drivers needed to boot and begin installation.
Dino, isn't index 1 for Home Basic?

    @Megahertz

By using the command above. You actually install Windows 7 manually while running Windows 10, by passing the booting process. After rebooting, Windows 7 will start setting up default drivers for devices, network, prompt you to set up user etc...

If in fact a particular driver is needed. You can mount the install.wim then inject additional driver(s) so it will be part of Windows 7 installation then run the command.

Been a long time that I install any Windows 7 but if I am not mistaken, Windows 7 came with a single edition and index 1 is the only available option. However, if I am wrong then use :
    DISM.exe /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:install.wim
to get correct index # for the edition that you want to install.

For Windows 10 iso, came with multiple editions, for example: 6 is for Windows 10 Pro.

Dino, the command will extract the index n image, but installation begins after the first boot
My experience in installing Win 7 on new hardware says it wont even boot.
    Win 7 64 index (32 has a Starter)
    1- HB
    2- HP
    3- Pro
    4- Ultimate

HELLO EVERYONE & thanks very much for all your kind replies to my post..

id like to give an update for the situation so far as ive spent many hours on this & its still not solved but maybe im getting closer...

after i tried to follow these steps after painstakingly trying to update the bootable 7 files with the NVMe & USB drivers, when i rebooted into win 7 the colored lights swirled around while it was loading the OS but then it just again rebooted....i then rebooted back into win 10 to check things & saw the install filled up the drive with 17 GB of data in the typical directories but when i went into \Windows\System32\drivers i couldnt find the NMVe drivers i thought were supposed to be there...

another option i tried was running the SETUP exec from the usb flash drive i made...at frirst it froze during the install screen so i downloaded & installed these samsung drivers i got from their website by running it from inside win 10...even tho i figured it wouldnt help much, the next time i tried to run the setup exec from the flash drive, it actually allowed me to choose the correct partition & start the install...BUT after it had copied all the files it started to expand them & about 6% into the second stage i got another error that said windows couldnt install "a driver" never saying exactly which one, i was again set back....it seems to be very difficult to do this when it should have been so easy...
    CAN ANYONE HELP?
should i open another thread like megahertz said?

Running and installing the dirver from Windows 10, it will install in Windows 10. You will need to inject the driver downloaded from Samsung into the install.wim image of Windows 7. Here's the link on how to add a driver to the image:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...-windows-image

so that the driver will be installed during "setting up devices" phase.
