Upgrading from W10 Home to Pro

I am thinking about upgrading to W10 Pro but I have a question. I have 3 computers and they are all about 7 years old so in your opinion would this update be beneficial or should I just buy a new one. Thanks

    Hey neighbor

You won`t gain anything but the added options in W10, just google and compare the 2

What features in Pro do you need that aren't in Home? - it's an identical system apart from these extra features.

If your device works fine with Home it'll work fine with Pro. No extra "imposition" on your system hardware.

    - and one advantage Pro had in controlling when feature updates were applied so they didn't happen unexpectedly was removed in 1903.

There are two "must have" features in Pro that make it an absolute 100% must have for me:

    BitLocker
    Remote Desktop

I can't live without either of those

Performance wise, there is no significant difference between Home and Pro. If your old computers run Home well, then they will have the same performance running Pro.

Do you really need any of the extra features in Pro? I have several machines, some on Home, others on Pro. For most purposes there is nothing to choose between them.

For me the 'killer app' in Pro is Hyper-V. Though if you want to run virtual machines in Home you can with WMWare Player.

You do need a reasonably powerful cpu, at least 8GB RAM, and (preferably) an SSD to make running VMs practical though.

None of those 7 year old computers will be "improved" by Pro any more than a 1 day old computer would be improved.

If you are unsatisfied with the computers as they are now for any reason, changing from Home to Pro won't change that UNLESS you can make specific use of the few features found in Pro that are not found in Home.

There is no performance hit using Pro. Most of the features are already installed and are enabled as soon as you enter the new licence key.
