Win10 2004 upgrade created a second recovery partition

    Win10 Pro Ver 2004
Just discovered that when I upgraded from Ver 1909 to 2004 a new Recovery partition was created.
It's same structure as the other.
Ver 1903 has the recovery partition as the fist one.
Ver 2004 has the recovery partition at the end of the C: partition

This happens when the old Recovery is not big enough for the new files. It should not happen again, since the new Recovery can be expanded to the left if needed in future updates, taking space from the Win10P partition.

You can delete the old one and label the new as "RECOVERY" to avoid confusions. First check that the new partition is really the Recovery partition, use reagentc /info.

The old Recovery partition is 10 MB larger than the new one so that sorta shots holes in your theory.

This usually happens after an upgrade - as said it creates a second "Recovery Partition" at the end of C partition...
This allows to things - 1 can be shrunk to accommodate and 2 it allows a roll back of prior OS and recovery...

The second recovery partition may be related to the 2004 new location of the recovery partition.

The old recovery partition is approximately 500 MB and can be left as is unless the additional free space is needed.

Using command line the disabled recovery partition can be deleted:
Identify the working recovery partition: reagentc /info
For the non-working recovery partition: delete partition override

    Thanks to all.
I created a disk image without the old Restore partition, cleaned the drive and restored from the image.

Good thinking! Is your recovery environment still enabled (reagentc /info)?
