No HP

I am trying to reinstall Windows 10 withoutHP crap and McAfee an all the rest of prepackaged trials and comeons. I have made an attempt at this going on three times. No luck. Can anyone help with a "de-HP win 10" version.
I am not opposed to low level format as long as I know I am going forwardd not backward. Thanks all

Make a backup of all your files (Image with Macrium free should do)

Then clean install with Windows ISO from MS:
tenforums tutorials clean-install-windows-10

You are probably battling with HP's hidden recovery partition. You may have to use something like Partition Wizard's bootable media, to remove that hidden partition... first.

What does your main drive look like in disk management?
A clean install deleting all partitions would be best/
Back up first!

I didn't reinstall Windows 10 as mentioned above. You could do a clean install but I just uninstalled most of the HP bloatware or disabled it using Autoruns. I had a particular problem removing SureClick on my ProBook. Please post if this affects you. Note some HP software is required for the special function keys to operate (brightness, wifi on/off etc). I uninstalled these:

• HP Client Security Manager
• HP Connection Manager
• HP Mac Address Manager
• HP Sure Click
• HP Notifications
• HP Assist
• HP System Information

I also removed driver hpdskflt associated with all drives which isn't needed for SSDs. I deleted the lower filter for hpdskflt at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} -> UpperFilters and LowerFilters. 1. . I left the HP Mobile Protection Sensor in Device Manger alone since it just reinstalls if you uninstall it. There should be an option to disable the device but HP do not allow this option. I also didn't fiddle with the other settings for hpdskflt.sys since the driver is associated with the HP Mobile Protection Sensor which cannot be uninstalled.

I disabled these HP services in Autoruns. HP Hotkey UWP & HP System Info HAS are needed for the brightness buttons.

• HP App Helper HAS
• HP LAN/WLAN/WWAN Switching UWP
• HP Network HSA
• HP Touchpoint Analytics

I've since removed the Touchpoint Analytics service but Windows Update keeps reinstalling it every few weeks. You will need to keep an eye on Reliability Monitor and remove stuff HP insists on throwing at you.

I prefer to use HP Image Assistant rather than HP Support Assistant to review and install software updates needed. https://ftp.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HPIA.html

HP Softpaq Download Manager I've continued to use along with HP Support Assistant.
It's for business models and is typically unavailable for consumer models.

HP Image Assist is unavailable for many HP computer models as it's specific to the installed operating system.

Sorry - I meant to say Image Assistant which I now use. I've amended my post. I used HP Support Assistant when configuring my new laptop. I give it permission to scan the laptop which for some reason trashed Windows. I recovered from the Reflect backup I had made and have never used HP Support Assistant since.
