I had to reinstall Windows 10 had my Documents folder on my D drive. Windows is installed on C drive. Every time I try to open a document i get You do not have permission to open this doc. I am the admin and no other users. I tried every thing I could think of. Any ideas why it won't let me open doc files. I have no other problems just this one.
Did you also reinstall Word [what the .doc format is with]? Have you tried copying the desired files to C: as a test in opening? Reinstalling the OS changes the Registry and some things don't get put back.
You could take permission of the folder on D: and copy the files back into the default library folder on C:

Did you previously change the location of the Documents folder using the Location tab?
