Mct usb

I have a USB 64 GB (my first one of this size) with the 20H1 ISO using the MCT. Can I still use it as storage and still be able to boot from it. All my other USB drives are 8 gb or less. So no big deal for an "only" single use USB drive.

The Bootable USB Thumb drive created by the MCT process gets formatted as FAT32 which has a limit of 32GB. I grabbed a 64GB drive once and ended up with only a 32GB partition on it, remainder was not accessible. To restore the size had to use a partitioning program outside of Windows to get the full 64GB as it came from the factory, 64GB.

Once you have done whatever you are going to do / not do [about Berton's post, extending the partition to 64GB or creating an additional one], you can store whatever else you want in your USB stick.

I do the same. I store the installation files of my main applications, the latest Windows Cumulative update & a few other significant updates so that I can get back up to speed easily if I ever have to reinstall.

I can then also store any other files that I want [Outlook pst, finances, IS records, ...].

These additonal files are best put into a separate folder tree so that you can keep track of what's on there but no separate partition for them is necessary.

Personally, I take one further step. I hide the installation folders & any of its files that are in the drive's root folder. This just reassures me that I am unlikely to accidentally delete or alter any of the installation files. They still function correctly despite being hidden.
