Updating HP Notebook to Windows 2004 failure

    HP Notebook - 15-db0997na
Updated to Windows 10 2004 and at the HP screen it said, “please wait while we install a system program,” words to that effect, which turned out to be a BIOS which failed.
When Windows 10 2004 loaded the desktop had a big pink section as screenshot below, and the taskbar took a long time to load.

It looks that this notebook cannot be updated to Windows 2004?
Programs loaded slow although they seemed to work as normal.

In the process of reverting to previous version

Was your machine offered V2004 or did you force update?

    Are you comfortable updating BIOS?

The update was offered on Windows Updates. The strange thing is that HP automatically started to download and install a new BIOS during POST after I had updated to V2004 but does not download the new BIOS with V1909.

I have now reverted to V1909 and installed an SSD and installed a memory module of 8GB which is the max for this laptop.

Well if you feel comfortable updating BIOS's I would head to site and see if it can be manually updated. Read restrictions / prerequisites.

There is some inherent risk updating BIOS's. I've never had one go bad but it is possible. Always read instructions twice and be very patient. I keep my BIOS up to date but doing an update is a decision you alone make.

As to V2004 I would not be in any way rushing to install. All kinds of glitchy things.

I updated the BIOS yesterday with HP Assist so I don't think the BIOS needs updatng anyway.

I will not update to V2004 in a harry but this laptop belongs to someone else who I will rell not to update to V2004.

At lot of systems are going to see an End of life at this point, same as with Apple Hardware when MacOS 11 (Big Sur) and iOS/iPadOS 14.

Update to updating HP Notebook - 15-db0997na to Windows 20H2.
It looks as though Intel released a display update in July 2020 for this model and I have been able to update the
    HP Notebook - 15-db0997na to 20H2 successfully

I noticed that in Device Manager there is a yellow exclamation mark against System Firmware. Could this be because I replaced the HDD with a new SSD?
Should I be worried about it or can I just ignore it?
    See screenshots of System Firmware Properties and Event viewer below;
