    Need help updating Win 10

    All,

This question is with regard to an Asus UX333F computer which I have had for about one year. (Do note that I am not a huge Windows 10 fan, so part of the issue may be my mindset...)

The computer is currently running Windows 10, version 1809, installed on 22 June 2019. This is an older version of the OS and I would like to update it. Seems simple, but...

If I run PC settings then select Update & Security, the program instantly shuts itself down. I have also tried Control Panel->Windows Update, but have gotten the same response. So, this not working, I downloaded the latest version of Windows 10 onto a USB drive and booted from that, but was unable to install the update from there.

Bottom line - I am quite frustrated and need some help. What do you advise?

    Hi.

Did you use the MCT tool to create the USB or was this homegrown?

    Do you have the ISO?

    Caledon,

Thanks for the quick reply. In answer to your questions: Yes, I used the MCT tool and I can grab the ISO at any time. From this page, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10, I followed the directions under "Using the tool to create installation media..."

Then, open the ISO file with windows explorer and click on setup, the update to 2004 will begin.

Right now, I would install 1909, not 2004.

Get the ISO file from here.

To update, you don't boot from the USB flash drive. Booting from the flash drive is for clean installs only. Just plug the flash drive in and run setup.exe on it.

You can`t get 1909 from the Microsoft site now, only 2004.

It`s not an odd site, we recommend getting older versions from there all the time.

    I see, thank you!
I was not able to verify this since no links are shown, but until download started.
I'm missing Windows 8 in my collection on a backup drive, definitely getting it now until is too late!
