Exactly it's a poor designed block if there was one.
So there isn't a real block
Disconnecting from the internet is just good sense when mounting a iso

It's only blocked for particular hardware/software combinations. That list of 'blocking issues' may be growing as new issues are discovered, but it's not a blanket 'block' yet. Any machine MS regard as compatible will still see 2004 offered, as I tested yesterday....

So it would appear MS haven't entirely pulled the plug, at least not for machines that MS think are compatible. It may well be that the list of such machines is shrinking, but it's not zero yet.

It's just nonsense to even care what ms accesses
Create a system image to removable hdd
Create winpe recovery media
Test winpe media

Create 2004 iso
Disconnect from the internet
Right click setup.exe and run as administrator
Follow the prompts.
15-30 minutes later 2004 desktop access for yourself what works and what doesn't on 2004.

If you don't like it restore system image.
It's just that easy.

Refer to first sentence who cares what ms accesses.
I never even look at ms update pages
I use windows update mini tool.

Windows Update MiniTool has nothing to do with installing Windows 2004 on a blocked system.

I'm saying try it downloading the ISO.

Your choice...MCT, Update Advisor, Rufus, Heidoc.

Try installing it on a system that has a block.

Unplug your network connection...whatever.

You will care if you get the warning in the middle of the install that the PC isn't ready, so check that first on the Windows Update screen to save that 15-30 minutes later you were talking about.
