Can I use Dual Layer DVD for Win10_2004_English_x64.iso?

If you make use of the new Media Creation Tool to obtain Version 2004 Build 19041 of the ISO file for Windows 10 64-bit, it is 3.85 GB in size and easily fits in a DVD.

Also, I now have 2 systems with 64 bit Windows 10 Pro. One is an Enterprise VL and the other is not. Will this media be OK for both? What I am looking for is a good ISO as all of my others are VERY old and most are Win 7 8 or very old Windows 10.

1909 18363 is what I have but isn't the Win10-_2004 even newer? Why I want this is that I have had a time or 2 when I added new hardware like a camera and windows said it wanted my install media to look for a driver.

Your profile doesn't show which country you live in so it's difficult to give you precise advice about MS' Media Creation Tool (which - by default - assumes 'US' but also allows you to download for other countries. For example, I always change the default to 'UK / international'.).

A Microsoft Account is not needed to download the Media Creation Tool nor to use it... so there is absolutely no need for 'logging in'.

(The direct download link for the MCT is https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209. Depending on what browser you use, this should show the downloader executable for the Windows 10 2004 version of the Media Creation Tool.)

If your two systems currently use 1909 18363 then isn't the 1909 ISO the one you want rather than the 2004 one? (Having said that, I doubt changes have been made to driver support. The 2004 version isn't really much of a quantum leap from 1909, more a vehicle for more stuff that few people actually need.)

The 1909 ISO can no longer be downloaded using the Media Creation Tool but is still available from Microsoft via Heidoc.net's portable Windows-ISO-Downloader.exe tool available from here.

Note that the available downloads of Windows 10 ISOs from Heidoc.net do not include Enterprise/VL versions:



A bootable DVD can be used but an optical drive is the slowest (and IMO the most fragile) install device going with dreadful 'read' speeds. Far quicker to create a USB installer... or why not just use Win 10's built-in support for right-clicking on an ISO file and choosing the Mount option:



I use a super-cheap 8GB USB3 stick and it fits the combined x32/x64 installer of Win 10 easily with space to spare. It'll carry out a clean install within minutes, rather than a grindingly slow install from DVD.

When you get the ISO file with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, it contains a highly compressed install.esd file. If you get the ISO file using any other method (that I know of), it contains a much less compressed install.wim file.

Ignoring that I always download an English International version with both x32/x64, you can see from my second screenshot above that the 2004 ISO is smaller than the 1909 ISO - all downloaded using the Media Creation Tool.

Plus, as @NavyLCDR points out, if you don't grab the ISO via the Media Creation Tool at the time that it is current then any other download afterwards (e.g. from Heidoc.net) is going to be bigger.
