Samsung NP300E5C - Locked out of BIOS

    Hello.

I had big trouble yesterday while clean installing w10 on this laptop. It came with Windows 8.1

The issue I am having is that I cannot manually enter BIOS (Tried all keys, although it seems it's F2). The only way I can enter BIOS is to invoke it through Windows (UEFI).

Tried enabling/disabling Secure Boot. Resetting BIOS to its defaults. Nothing. The only way of accessing BIOS is through Windows.

To make things worse I had to physically remove the hard disk and reformat it with an external enclosure, because windows installation went bad and because I couldn't access BIOS, booting from usb was impossible.

What a shitty UEFI BIOS implementation.

I am having big trouble getting w10 to run on this laptop. Even setting BIOS to CSM mode system boots fine (even if installed in UEFI/GPT).
But the biggest issue I am having is that the Intel HD graphics doesn't install alongside another device related to Intel on LPC controller. Trying now installing under MBR mode. If it still fails, I will try installing x86 version.

Any ideas? This is one of the most uncompatible system I have ever seen.

If it all fails, I will resort to reinstalling w8.1

PS - Forgot to say that I tried updating BIOS but the updater also failed. Also tried the Samsung updater uwp tool. It didn't work either. I will recommend people not getting any Samsung related laptop now. What a terrible support.

According to this page, this model isn't compatible with w10. Bummer.

Making good progress. W10 x64 19041.264 is now installed using MBR mode and with all drivers properly installed too. So it seems BIOS UEFI compatibility isn't very good.

The fact that you are able to try to reset the Bios means you are in the Bios.

The screen will show you which key to push when you 1st turn on the PC, what key does it show/tell you to push to enter setup ?

After changing boot mode to CSM legacy, a line appeared at the bottom of loading samsung screen, press F2 to enter BIOS or F4 for recovery. Those keys weren't working anyway. And UEFI GPT windows was still loading, even if mode was set to csm in BIOS, but with the aforementioned issues, Intel HD graphics not installing and another driver failing (Intel Watchdog timer).

I am marking this as solved because in CSM mode there are no issues. I have yet to try to enter BIOS but now this is a minor concern.

I have seen similar issues in an HP laptop where WIFI card couldn't be detected/installed while in UEFI mode. I guess a BIOS update is mandatory here, but the Samsung crappy updater wasn't working either.
