"Waiting with Baited Breath" ..."Waiting with worm on tongue" courtesy of "Mork from Ork" the one and only Robin Williams’ what a Champion what a Legacy?

G/Day Cobba lets resume -- hopefully, I can Remit this one to you?

    Did the rescue media
    boot successful?

    I Don’t know Ken I have
not Ventured there Yet’ I have no Backup of my Stuff? I Lost it all on 26th of April when my near new 1 Terabyte WD Passport wiped itself
I will be honest, I'm still not sure what we are trying to achieve. You will excuse me.
One activity is a clean install. Only used in extreme circumstances to start over. It is a good option for unfixable errors or just a clean sweep.

    Ken this is what I’m trying to do;

    1] Create and Lock-in another three Partitions On the new Toshiba (E as / F, G, H,

    2] Transfer Backup to
the Toshiba Drive the Folders Files and Music, Picture’s Video, etc that I salvaged

    3] Using that Bootable USB
    we Created and reinstalling them

    Or
Use the Windows Backup tool or anything not so complicated as Macrium? I was using AOMEI when I lost the Stuff on the WD but it’s easier than Macrium

The free version of Macrium makes Images at the Partition level. You can backup an individual partition, say D: or a collection of partitions, say those necessary to backup and restore Windows.
Unless your data (Music, pics, etc) is in a partition or separate partitions

No, they are on OC [C;] in the Libraries' Doc's Downloads Etc. at this point, the Toshiba is Formatted and Empty
your only option is to Image C: (and the surrounding partitions (so you can boot).

    Would this be the
Better option Disc O- O C [C] has 6 Partitions on it but this would be the easiest for me do you think as long as I can get a clean version of windows onboard there is a Partition of full of DELL stuff backups and Drivers etc Disk Management is Attached Cheers Ken Thanks Heaps Dasha

Okay lets start with backup. See my comment at end of this.

The Toshiba is empty, correct ?

Right click in the white area of the Toshiba disk in disk management. Left click "Delete Volume". Answer confirmations.

Then right click in the area where it says "Disk 1" in disk management. Midway down the list of possible choices it can either say "Convert to MBR Disk" or "Convert to GPT Disk"

If it says "Convert to GPT disk" click it. If it says "Convert to MBR disk" you are done with this step.

Failed To Load BOOT Mng to USB-FROM Media Creation Macruim --image.png

Now in the unallocated space of the Toshiba drive Right click.
    Left click "New Simple Volume"
You will get a panel asking you size. This is in MB. So 430GB is 430000.
Next panel assign the partition a letter.
Next panel make sure file system is NTFS and you can give it a volume name, like Docs.

Repeat process to create additional partitions. On last allocation accept the size value suggested by Windows so you don't wind up with stray free space at the end of the drive.

Once you have the partitions allocated you can use copy and paste to copy your files into appropriate partitions.

This will accomplish giving you a backup as you outlined.

I do not think this is the way I would do it as this doesn't leave you space on Toshiba drive for your eventual Macrium backup. I saw you comment on Macrium. Seems complicated but in fact once you work through it, it is not. Just lots of words.

    Hi Dasha.

You have to read my instruction carefully. My previous post was all about disk management, nothing Macrium.

It appears you were successfully in creating one clean partition on your external, excellent.

Now on your external create a folder for each thing you want to backup before clean installing.

I usually make the following folders, Desktop, Download, Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos.

Once the folders are created on external use copy and paste to copy the contents from your c: drive folders to your external.

No Macrium involved at this time. This is simple copy and paste.

Once data is copied let me know and we can proceed to next step.

    Contin Clean Install Windows 10

Ken Good Morning As you can see I will be slow with all this? My son’s using this PC’ Internet to work from Home (COVID- 19) so I can only use it when he is done.

Just a couple of Queries if I may please
I have Copied and Pasted to HDD- Partition [E] Do the Cross’s X’s on these Desktop Icons (Scr Clip)
Will the new shortcuts in Ex HDD Partition [E] work after I delete Windows

Will these copy into the New Windows and run after the reinstall? they are only shortcuts?

Should I Turn Off Secure Boot “UEFI” when the time comes

    Re connecting to Net after?

How will I reconnect to our home WiFi Ethernet does that transpire by itself

OR Should I Backup all the Display adapters

    Okay Thank's Ken Regards Dasha

If you copied and did not move not sure why you would have "X"'s. X's usually mean something isn't found. Not sure why it can't find Control Panel.

Please confirm you copied and pasted data to backup.

Shortcuts normally have to be rebuilt on a new system. File paths change and as such shortcuts don't work.

Yes shut off secure boot when clean installing.

You must know wifi password to reconnect to your home network, assuming you are using wifi. If wired just plug in and go.

You should not have to copy display adapters. Do go to the Dell site and download them just to be sure. Windows 10 does a very good job of installing drivers.
