    Hi Dasha

Not exactly following what you are trying to do?

Are you trying to add an entry to your boot menu or are you trying to create boot media on USB Thumbdrive?

Is your machine booting UEFI or legacy?

Hi, Ken, great to hear from you Mate

    I have UEFI
I was starting with a blank 16 GB USB that I had first Reformated to FAT32
BUT it also had a "System Volume Infomation Folder" on it
and just now it's got a Recycle bin Folder on it

    Hi there right back.

Okay just format it and have it clean.

Then ensure Macrium is the latest release, then sent out a patch yesterday.

Start Macrium, then click on Create Rescue Media., click on Advance, the click on Choose base Wim, pick Windows RE and then OK and finally build.

Then test. Since yours is a Dell I'm pretty sure F12 is boot menu.

You can shut down or restart. As soon as you see Dell logo on screen F12.

Once you have bootable media working what are you trying to do? I saw something about clean install. Macrium isn't really a clean install.

It is a restoration to a point in time. Of course if you did a Macrium right after a clean then it would restore a clean install.

G/Day Ken I am fast learning two things Macrium is not for me re-clean Install' I have already lost everything once Music, pics, etc' just backing up my files & Folders using AOMEI Backupper a month ago with a near new WD Passport ExHDD
I need help Creating 4 Partitions on a new Toshiba 1 TB Ex HDD, I got the Toshiba
    on Warranty
I tried 3 times at setting them up but they never appear in Disk Manager they won't stick and when I go back to “E” they have disappeared’ there must be a step I am missing to lock them in, Saving or Save - Initialising’ if so how do I do it?
What do you suggest Ken Should I use a Windows Tutorial for Clean install and for backing up Mate?
and the 4 Partitions on TOSHIBA Ex HDD Drive (E:) as

    TOSHIBA (E) 930gb - 430gb - 230gb - 230gb - 35gb -- (925GB

    NTFS F G H I /FAT32

FAT32 is for a Backup and Boot.

I will be using the Bootable-USB we made last night in this instance

Note Please I know I am as thick as a Crane drivers Sandwich but I am noticing it is very very hard just trying Google for "help" here or anywhere there are at least 3 different suggestion's and all of them are at least 4 Years old we spend an hour just digging through the "chaff "but when we go to implement it' you find it's different on our PCs? The Partitions and then the Backing up Folders Files And the Creating a Bootable USB took all Yesterday afternoon and some more last night anyway thanks for all you all do I am always grateful Cheers Dasha

Did the rescue media boot successful?

I will be honest, I'm still not sure what we are trying to achieve. You will excuse me.

One activity is a clean install. Only used in extreme circumstances to start over. It is a good option for unfixable errors or just a clean sweep.

    Two - a Macrium Backup

What are you trying to do?

The free version of Macrium makes Images at the Partition level. You can backup an individual partition, say D: or a collection of partitions, say those necessary to backup and restore Windows.

Unless your data (Music, pics, etc) is in a partition or separate partitions your only option is to Image C: (and the surrounding partitions (so you can boot).

Could you post a shot of Disk Management.

As to your external is there anything on it that needs to be saved?
