Partitions in Windows 10

I have just installed Winders 10 Pro on a used PC just acquired. I wanted to dual boot with a Linux distro but when I run fdisk -l in Linux it only shows two partitions for Windows, so I can't install Linux as it needs an EFI partition. Any ideas?.

There are sure a lot of options for you. I am triple booting two separate Linux distros with my Windows 10 right now.

What exactly is your question and what do you want to accomplish?

You can use Disk Management to create partition to install Linux on.

That would be my suggestion as well if that is the issue that the OP is trying to address. My first idea is to perform a clean install of Windows 10 since this is a used PC. A clean install will give the OP a brand new Windows 10 system with all of the partitions he needs.

Panic over found a Linux genius with step by step on Youtube. I have an older PC that uses MBR, not EFI. That's the problem. Going to tackle it now, thanks for replies. As an aside, I hate Virtualbox.

I don't use Linux much, mainly as a live USB to boot a PC that has a dead OS. But I do have one Linux Mint VM, it seems to work well under Hyper-V.

You can install any Linux distro on an MBR partitioned drive, you do not need to use GPT. Also, you can partition any drive as MBR even with a UEFI system just like on a BIOS system. There is no relationship.
