    Windows 10 in-place upgrade didn't do anything

    Hi,

I'm on Windows 10 1909, and I have a lot of problems, with frequent hangs and other issue.

I saw the tutorial on the forum about the in-place upgrade, and this is suggested my Microsoft as possible solution to resolve problems with Windows 10.

I did that, and basically changed nothing, it is as before the upgrade.

Shouldn't the in-place upgrade resolve at least most of the issues (not all), should it? Is it normal? What's your experience with this?

    Thanks.

There are many causes of hangs.
There is no one method fix.

You can start with clean boot:

Beside from that, I was having problems with the launch of OneDrive at startup (I had to add the exe of OneDrive to the startup), and changed nothing.

At this point, I suspect that even if I wait for Windows 10 2004 the upgrade will make no difference at all.

I don't know, maybe I have to reset the PC then upgrade to Windows 10 2004 when it will be out to minimize the problems.

You didn't provide any description of your computer, but a "clean" re-install of Windows 10 Version 1909 Build 18363 will remove all of its debris and issues and give it a fresh start.

Unless it's delayed for some reason, Version 2004 Build 19041 should be released in about 2 weeks.

As you have a 3rd gen MB (Z77) you have probably updated from win 7 or win 8.x.
If you did a upgrade, you should backup your data and do a clean install, deleting all partitions.
It will take half a day, but there is nothing like a clean install.

Actually, I did an in-place upgrade of the same version, that is Windows 10 1909 -> Windows 10 1909.

An upgrade will only reinstall Win 10. It will keep all the programs and trash from the Win 7 installation.
    Do a Clean install

If your MB has UEFI BIOS (is it up to date?) do a clean install as UEFI - GPT.
To install as UEFI - GPT you must boot the Win 10 installation disk as UEFI, not Legacy.

Don't forget so save all your data to an external disk.

Yes, I always installed Windows 10 as UEFI-GPT.
