How to finish Windows 10 usb installation

Greetings to the reader, I first apologize if this is not the appropriate site to ask this question. I am out of ideas currently since browsing the web did not help me.

I am currently trying to finish the steps to create a bootable USB flash drive so I can repair my main laptop that ceased working on the nineteenth. I first received a critical_process_died error code, then the laptop now only go to BIOS after powering on. I did enable "Launch CSM" to see if that could help, but I see "The boot configuration data for your pc is missing or contains errors." with the error code 0xc000000f and the File: boot\bcd

I was told by Microsoft to create a Windows 10 flash drive, but my computer I am using is my old Acer Extensa laptop which has Windows Vista.

I chose to try and I have finished splitting the install.wim file using this tutorial here but I can not download the Windows 10 ADK to use the Development Tools and Preinstallation Tools. The Installation Window warned that the installation is not supported by my version. Before my main laptop desist functioning, the Windows version was 1909 if I remember correctly. I do not have many options currently as I do not have transportation to find another computer with Windows 8 or 10. Is finishing the boot installation to the flash drive with Windows Vista possible? I am grateful for any advice.

Did you go to this site to create a W10 install usb stick. I don`t see what running Vista has to do with it. But than, I`m no expert

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

Yes it seems you need to be running W7 or newer.

Yes, that was one of the first steps I done but chose not to mention. I was constantly receiving an error message that MediaCreationTool.exe is not a valid win32 application. Here is a screenshot as proof. I also could not access the program the regular way to download, as I was taken back to that same page with no option to save Media Creation Tool and chose to download from techspot if this helps. I am not a expert, hence why I came here. Do you have any other suggestions that can help please?

There are other links/sites to get a W10 Iso file, I looked through my bookmarks and don`t have them anymore, I`d have to plug in my W7 SSD to check it.

I`m sure someone will come along and post a link.

And you can always try google

You can Download the Media ISO > TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)
Mount the ISO as a virtual drive - then Copy Contents of ISO to a Fat32 Formatted USB stick...
If your System is Booting in Legacy (Bios) Mode - then you will have to set the Partition on the USB stick as Active

In Vista, mounting the .iso will require a third-party utility. An open-source example: WinCDEmu - the easiest way to mount an ISO. And more...

Thank you for the responses but I have the windows 10 .iso file saved to an external hard drive, and I extracted the files but the install.wim to the USB. I have split the install.wim file with the Dism \Split-Image instructions to install.swm. I was trying to follow this tutorial by Kari here, but my computer will not install Windows 10 ADK since my operation system is not compatible: DISM - Split install.wim file

Please, I want to know how to finish the bootable USB process. Will WinCDEmu be helpful? I chose not use the CD/DVD option since only my Vista has a cd drive, not my main laptop that needs assistance (Asus X551C). I have a few blank discs remaining, is transferring the files to a usb possible if I complete the instructions via CD drive?

What do you want the bootable USB for ... to do what with ? Upgrade - what ? Re-install/Repair/Recover - what ? Portable access - what device(s) ?

As I mentioned earlier, to repair my main laptop. If you will please read the first post, I mentioned experiencing a critical_process_died error message on April 19 with my Asus and have since tried to find assistance. I was told by Microsoft to repair Windows 10 by using a bootable Windows 10 flash drive. I scheduled the computer for a chkdsk scan the day the laptop stopped functioning, I too this day do not know what caused this.

May I have assistance on what to do please?

Thank you for the responses but I have the windows 10 .iso file saved to an external hard drive, and I extracted the files but the install.wim to the USB.
You can use 7zip to extract the contents of the ISO to a Folder - then copy contents of folder to USB.....
You can not use a Split Wim with Windows Setup ---
You would have to APPLY the Split.wim Image with Dism......
You should not have to Extract the Install.wim as that wim file is used by setup... Just copy as above to USB

You can use DISM to Export a certain Index from within the Install.wim
Then you can Extract that wim index with 7zip to a folder - to get the OS File & Folder Structure
