Clean 1909 installation question

Hi, guys,
I have a bootable Windows 10 1909 USB flash drive that I prepared last week using the Media Creation Tool. I intend to use it at some point when I have time to clean install Windows 10 on my PC. Im aware that Microsoft are shortly due to release the latest version 2004/May 2020/2020 first half or whatever its going to be called lol
If this new release is released before I get the time to clean install 1909 what will happen to my installation?
Will it just install 1909 as I would like ?..or will I be notified that 1909 is out of date and then automatically install the May 2020 release?
When I perform the clean installation I want to be sure I install version 1909. I want to install the newly released version later on maybe in a few months time after any potential issues have been sorted out

You have Home. That choice doesn't give you the ability to block feature updates. Pro upwards make this easy.
Given you want to do that, one option is to use one of the very often discussed free 3rd party tools to control windows updates e.g.
Sledgehammer, Windows Update Minitool or Option 7 here:

I was hoping that it would install 1909 and after installation the new release version would just show up as an optional update in Windows Update as it would on a PC with a current 1909 installation. A few months ago on Windows Home things changed so that new versions arent immediately forced on you anymore, they appear as Optional Updates for several months. But from what youre saying I would be forced to go straight onto the new version even though I would be installing from a 1909 USB flash drive

Don't worry. Just use your USB to install v1909. Once online Windows Update should notify you of the new build. If it doesn't and you want to upgrade, just download the newer Media Creation Tool and use that to upgrade. I would avoid upgrading on the fly. I would rather download the ISO and upgrade by running the setup from there.

a. You don't know what update you might be delivered during the installation.
b. a feature update is a feature update (upgrade) not an optional update.

I had 1903 before 1909 was released and it showed up in Windows Update as you say as a feature update but it was Optional

So am I correct in thinking that it would install 1909 on Windows 10 Home even if the new release (May 2020 feature upgrade) has been released weeks before. Are you saying that after 1909 installs that the new release would just be shown in Windows Update as an optional upgrade that I could download and install when Im ready at a later date?
Ive always just upgraded to a new feature upgrade build through Windows Update. So far Ive never had any issues with that method though Im aware that some people have

I'm afraid no one can say for sure although I believe the new one will be optional as the present one is:

I have recently installed a very old build (v1609) in an old computer that would not accept v1909 directly. I was disconnected from the internet. Once up and running v1609 successfully and after updating all drivers, I could upgrade to v1909 (using the ISO) without any issues. The incompatibility with v1909 I believe it was due to inability to install proper drivers. v1609 did not had this issue (used generic drivers? ).
