    Is that F1 or Fn+F1?

Is ther a Fn+f# key combo that swaps onboard and external display? If so, try that. Often it's Fn+F4 (or F5).
On my Dell Inspiron 15R Notebooks it is the Fn key + the F1 key. The markings on some Notebooks I've had to deal with have had the markings reversed so it may be only the Fx key that operates what the symbol stands for.

It was Fn + F1. So when I tried to reinstall it gave me the error message that my laptop could not use Windows 10 lol. And something about updating the BIOS. So, updated the BIOS. So far it's letting me install but will see if it actually works on the onboard display.

I've been having the exact same problem with my Dell laptop and after a week of trouble shooting i have finally got the screen working.
If you go to the Dell support webpage download and install the BIOS update version A11 (must be this version) and restart. Hope ur as sucessful as I was.

Reverted back to Windows 7 and trying a reinstall now.
We had two Dell laptops same issue. Problem is with explorer.exe not running. Caused by: IDT Audio Fix: Uninstall IDT Audio. Worked on both! Launch Task Manager by CTRL-ALT-DEL, run task appwiz.cpl.

    Cheers!

If Win+P doesn't work, I believe there is a way to change your display settings through Windows Settings. Go to System > Display > Multiple Displays. First try "Duplicate these displays", if that doesn't work, Try "Show only on 2".

    I hope that helps.

I have a Dell Inspiron 7537 I'm trying to upgrade from Windows 8.1 Home to Windows 10 but the installation fails - see https://www.tenforums.com/installatio...what-next.html

Have any other Dell Laptop owners had this problem and do you have any solutions? Did you have to turn off Secure Boot on your Dell laptop for the installation to succeed?
