Dual boot Win 7 installation Error on HP Pavilion 15

Hello everybody, I have been using dual boot OS in previous laptops, but this time I
have been unable to install Windows 7 due to installation problems.
Overall IŽd like to know if Win7 can run on the HP Pavilion 15. I need it because
several programs donŽt work in Win 10 even with the compatibility troubleshooter.

    What I have tried:

    - In Bios: disable safe boot, disable UEFI, enable Legacy. After saving changes,
I check Windows System Information, and it still displays UEFI Mode. I restart
to check the BIOS and it displays Legacy Mode.

    - Install from bootable USB. Failed because my laptop has only USB 3.0 ports,
    not working with Win7.

    - Decompress ISO and do regular install. Failed.
I have read that I may have to downgrade from TPM 2.0 to 1.2
but I couldnŽt find an instalator compatible with my laptop.

The Win10 installation fails after copying files. After restarting
it gives me a boot option to continue with Windows installation, but I
    just reach a dark screen.

Any clue on what could I do? Thanks

I had this same issue on my HP laptop as well. Windows 7 can not be installed on processors that are 6th generation or newer. For intel processors, the generation can be identified by the first number following the i3, i5, i7 designation. My laptop has an i5-7200u processor so it is a 7th generation processor that is not compatible with windows 7, whereas my desktop has an i5-3570 so it has a 3rd generation processor so it will run windows 7. I see that your processor is 8th generation, i5-8265u, so that is what the problem is. That said, I was able to successfully run windows 7 on my laptop.... there are workarounds and drivers need to be modified but technically they are hacks, so per forum rules I can't go into detail on how to do that here. Nowadays I just run windows 7 within windows 10 via a virtual machine. No dual booting needed. It's easier to set up a virtual machine than it is to do the workaround.

In that case, you could install Windows 7 in a supporting system. Then use the "Deploy" option from Macrium Reflect to generalize the installation (make it hardware-independent). Connect the disk to the target machine, let it find drivers and you are good to go.
