Sorry Sn00ker I am no sure I understand what you mean."they will come back for the Pro version as Win 10 RTM Professional Retail" Are you suggesting that if I were to buy the pro version (I am interested in the home version only sinc it is for personal home use) that the result is ''Win 10 RTM Professional".?
Assuming I were to buy that one, what does it mean? I am asking because would buying the home version come up with a similar result like "Win 10 RTM Home"?
If you're talking about from the site SIW2 posted, Yes... I would imagine if you were to buy the home version but for 5 bucks more you can have the pro version or at least I believe you still can. Again, my brother called Microsoft and they told him the keys are legitimate, either way I believe they are and the site is saying 1-PC, unlimited lifetime licence

Definitely. And it is only £5 or $5 more.

Purchasing the Pro version of Windows 10 is something that I would strongly recommend, as the ability to set up and control the Pro version is much better than the abilities of Home version to do. The Home version of Windows 10 is similar to a phone operating system in that it makes most decisions for the user rather than providing a choice, and is missing the tools to change things

    I must be missing something.
I had win XP home on my desktop and win XP pro on my a laptop that a friend gave to me. For my home use, never saw the difference between the two.
But I have set some restrictions on a dental office client computer using GPedit. In that case a pro was useful.
I have bought a Win 7 HP Retail and despite the price difference to a OEM license, I never regret. I have used in 3 desktops that I build in 2011, 2013 and 2016.
So I think it worth more to spend an extra on a home Retail license than on a Pro OEM.
My desktop has now a Win 7 HP and my laptop a Win 7 pro. For my use, they are the same.

Can someone explain the advantages of a PRO on a home desktop (I don't use encryption or GPedit)?

XP home did have a similar control set to XP Pro, as did the later releases of windows up to Windows 8 where a few of the options did not have any way of changing things except by direct registry edits, this has been expanded in windows 10 so that the settings are not there in Home for things like delaying updates for a month or two, there is also the "wonderful" Ever reappearing default settings that do not "stick" over time and of course there are the Games that keep reappearing - candy crush anyone?

Nigel, for the Win 10 updates full control I use Sledgehammer
For old style card games, I use Windows 7 games for Windows 10

For home use, cant see any reason to spend US$60 more on a Win 10 pro (Retail)

Do you intend to game, edit video, Photoshop or major photo manipulation?
