Upgrading from W7 to W10 fails - error message in post body
I was told to come here by the Seven forum for this issue
Error message
0x8007001F - 0x20006 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quickbooks is requiring me to update my W7 pro desktop to W10 in order to update to QB2020.
I have tried at least 10 times to upgrade to W10 pro using the instructions on this web page
Here's how you can still get a free Windows 10 upgrade | ZDNet
I had the media creation tool make me a couple USB sticks.
One with the ISO and one with the .exe install files
Neither one of those methods will update
So I tried the just update this one computer and that failed also
The free W10 upgrade worked perfectly fine on one W7 pro desktop last week, but it is a very simple machine with less than 6 pieces of software installed, no printers or external devices.
These are all the things I tried according to web searches for my error message
Unplugging all USB devices
Disabling several things in the device manager
Deleting the windows update folders
Repairing the windows update using the MS tool
And others I can't remember just now
Nothing has worked so far
The upgrade looks like it is going to finish and boot into W10, but then it says it is putting my computer back to the way it was and then shows me the error message I posted above.
The first free upgrade I did went without a hitch
And so I was hoping to be able to do it again on my main business machine.
I don't want to do a clean install
My business desktop has a huge amount of data and programs that I use on a daily basis
If I can't get the free upgrade to work on this machine, do you guys think that a purchased W10 disc would upgrade and get by the error message.
I don't mind buying W10 pro if I have to.
It will just be another business expense.
Any one have any feedback on this issue?
Thanks
