Problem with drive letters installing windows

What capacity is the USB pen?
Did you have the media creation tool make the flash pen or did you use RUFUS or some other app.

Occasionally the windows setup can be confused by some usb pens and the answer is then to START again and disconnect the usb pen on reaching the screen custom install and clicking next
The system will then tell you when to reconnect the usb pen.

These are the exact steps I took before I tried the "new" section as a last resort

1.unfortunately I only have a mac as another computer so I used terminal to install windows onto the usb stick (i tried 2 differnt usb sticks)

2. boot and chose Custom install ( = clean install)

3.deleted all partitions

4. hit next, and got the error "windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation"

It is IMHO the preparation of the USB on the MAC
Rather than jumping through hoops the far easier way is to make it on a relative, friends, colleagues, neighbours Windows computer.

Yup, im going to try on virtualbox to run windows and install there, thanks
