Problems cannot complete installation of Windows 10 from USB

I am trying to upgrade my box to Windows 10 Pro. I created the installation file with Rufus and inserted in box. Immediately received the message "Part EFI Remove media and reboot." I then recreated the installation file with Rufus using MBR and UEFi. I re-inserted the USB. Windows 10 starts installation. I answered very questions, finish installation and then does the final reboot. Box keeps running but nothing shows on the screen. I have tried numerous times with the same result. Why does the monitor that showed all the installation process will go blank after completion. In fact the monitor states no activity and shuts down. Please let me know what I have to do to get the system working on the monitor?

Hi, a number of questions arise from your post.

What version of Windows are you upgrading from? The forum prompted you to state your current Windows build.
Please post a link to the drives for your MBO. To what version of Windows is your PC supported?

As I understand it, your upgrade failed to complete, and you remain with Win 7 or 8.

You seem to have attempted to create a bootable installation medium with Rufus, yet you say you are trying to upgrade. That begs a whole host of questions such as
- why are you doing that, when the MS media creation tool creates one for you so much more reliably and easily
- why create a bootable medium for upgrading
- are you actually attempting a clean install rather than upgrading by booting from your disk?

Let's consider upgrading.
a. Probably the most common way to upgrade is via Windows Update.
- Is WU running on your PC?
- If so, have you ever been offered Win 10?
(If not, your PC is probably deemed incompatible).
b. Another way to start upgrading is it use the MS media creation tool (Google). Using this you can
- download the appropriate iso file for your PC (latest build)
- create a bootable installation medium (no need to fiddle with Rufus- easy to get that wrong).

That's for manual upgrading or a clean a install (a bootable medium and iso can also be used for some repair functions).

Here's what I suggest you do.

a. Create a disk image of what you have now- so if things go wrong you have a means to recover and a full backup. E.g. use Macrium Reflect (free). Note: this also checks the integrity of the used part of the partitions imaged.
b. Use the MS media creation tool to download an iso file or create a bootable medium.
c. Check you have at least 30Gb free on C:
d. Uninstall any 3rd party security software.
e. Disconnect any other disks and unnecessary peripherals
f. Make sure your BIOS is up to date.
g. Attempt the upgrade without accepting updates - you can disconnect the internet
Either:
- Mount the iso file
- Open the new drive letter created
- Double click setup.exe

or

Boot and log in as normal
Insert your bootable installation medium
Browse to it and locate setup.exe
Double click on that

Note carefully and completely any error message.

Please be aware that failed upgrades can be nigh impossible to resolve- threads over days with log analysis here bear witness to that.

Box keeps running but nothing shows on the screen.

Note that by manually upgrading you bypass the checks run by Windows Update to determine whether your PC is capable of being upgraded to Win 10. Hence my earlier question relate to WU.

If there was no suitable video driver, I would have expected at least MS's basic driver to be used.

Once you have used a medium downloaded using the MS media creation tool on this PC, please run setupdiag.exe and post the result.
