Update Failure From 1703 to 1909, Exhausted All Options

Hello,

I am on an ASUS G750JH running Windows 10 1703. As of recently I have tried to manually update to the latest edition of Windows which is 1909. I couldn't get it to update and noticed for the past 3 months a Windows update always failed. I've exhausted all my options and any advice would help. The constant error being 0x8007001F.

I would like to keep all my personal files and not have to reinstall anything.

Here is what I've tried:

*Uninstalled latest 1703 update and reinstalled without any issues, could not update to anything newer

*Tried to install 1909, 1903, 1803 from the Microsoft catalog but returns with an error

*Windows Mini Update Tool and Windows Update Manager didn't work

*Windows 10 Update Assistant failed

*Media Creation Tool failed

*Disabled antivirus

*Uninstalled audio drivers

*Restarted the Windows Update Service

*Performed SFC and DISM check, no errors

*Performed a clean boot

*Tried a new user account

All my options have failed which has led me to this forum to seek assistance, any help would be much appreciated.

Uninstall, don't disable your Anti-virus. Which one do you have. If Norton, use the Norton Removal Too. If McAfee use the Mcafee removal tool, if Avast or AVG or another AV program, use it's removal tools.

Error 0x8007001F is related to audio. Try disabling Audio in Device Manager, see if that allows Windows Update to complete.

Once that is done. Disconnect everything connected externally to the laptop. Use the Mousepad instead of a mouse for the upgrade.
Disconnect from the Internet. Unplug Ethernet cable if you use one. Disable WiFi. Reconnect once upgrade finishes.

Run Media Creation Tool again and let it create the USB flash drive for you. This will work on UEFI or BIOS systems. DO NOT use Rufus. This will give you 1909 18363,592. Do an immediate Windows Update when this finishes.

Don't make USB your first boot device. Leave it as your DVD or hard drive.
Make sure you have at least 30GB of free space on the hard drive.

With Windows 10 booted, insert the USB flash drive. Run setup.exe from the flash drive to start the upgrade. Choose the keep everything option when offered the choice. You won't be asked for a key.

Dang, still doesn't work.

I'll try to create an ISO and see if that works.

Edit: Also failed

Perhaps if someone wants to look at some logs they could see what is wrong

Log files that are created when you upgrade to a new version of Windows

See which apply then zip them up and upload here so we can look at them.
Don't need or want all of them, just the ones that apply to your situation.

I don't create the .iso, I use the MCT to get to the Microsoft page to download for use on a different computer and choose the appropriate .iso file used to create the Bootable DVD for installing. I also use the MCT to create the Bootable USB drive, does it from that connection. Neither method is fast but have never had a problem so being in a hurry is not in the grand scheme of things. I set the download in the evening and finish the next day. The MCT is good for awhile, probably 24 hours or so. My ISP provides 12Mbps. If in a hurry I will use more computers to do the different downloads, all get done about the same time.

SetupDiag is a free diagnostic tool by Microsoft that is designed to find and parse Windows 10 setup log files to determine why an upgrade or update failed to install on a computer system.

SetupDiag works only on devices running Windows 10. The second requirement is that it depends on the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 which needs to be installed on the device it is run on.

If you run SetupDiag without parameters, it attempts to locate log files that Windows 10 creates during the upgrade process in the default folders on the device.

The program creates a results.log file in its directory when it completes the scan which includes upgrade issues that it detected in the log files during parsing.

SetupDiag creates a zip archive of all log files that it processed on top of that which it saves as Logs.zip in the same directory as well.

I don't want to be discouraging, but, on my two desktops, I had to do a clean install of 1909.

Fortunately, I have no pre-installed software that I needed to preserve. I prepared for the new OS, so I was able to restore things in a few hours. Sometimes biting the bullet saves time over repeated tries to do an update.

At this point, you may as well wait for 20H1 (version 2004, as in year 2020, month 04). I hope that its realease isn't delayed by COVID-19. (That's my most minor hope as regards COVID-19.)

first error it threw was the language default, uninstall any secondary language options and try updating again
