If you have an Administrator user (not restricted user), you should be in the Administrators group. So if you change owner to the Administrators group you will have the rights to also grant full access to your account or the Administrators group. Beware to type Administrators (plural) to refer to the group. If you type Administrator (singular) you refer to the build-in Administrator account, it is not the same.

I don't understand where to type that. I am completely new to things like this and need detailed instructions.

Right-click on the folder or files you want to modify. Go to Properties, Security, Advanced and you should see a "Change" button to change the owner. In the box type Administrators and click OK. You can then proceed to modify the access rights of Administrators to Full (check all boxes) and finally do what you want to do.

OK, the tablet/laptop has been working fine since re-installing Windows and compressing everything so I am going to mark this Solved.

I never did get side loading to work or get the app copied by any other method but I was installing Win10 on a "new" computer for the basement workshop recently and while in the Store to get my apps I noticed that the one I was concerned about (The Weather Network) is available there again.

If you use your Microsoft account on Windows Store you can see your apps and download them again in the other device. There is no need to register the computer with the Microsoft account (no need to create a Microsoft account, you can create a local account and use the Microsoft account only in store and only for specific apps/games). In soime games you can even retrieve your progress to the other computer.

Yes, and that worked for all of the other MS Store apps. But in this specific case the provider of the app had decided that they would discontinue the Windows version so when I tried to install it from my list in the Store it just sat trying to begin installing endlessly.

Fortunately they have seen the error of their ways and are providing the Windows version again.

Are you sure we have the same PC? My Acer SW1-011 tablet laptop doesn't have a CD drive, or even enough space for them to have installed one.

I think mine booted from the USB drive automatically. If yours doesn't do that you need to google how to access the BIOS and set the boot order so it will.

yes. i used a usb thumb drive and a usb cd drive. there is no internal optical drive on this machine. i also altered the bios boot order and tried forcing it with the f12 boot menu and manual selection. cannot get it to boot from external media...

    That should work.

Are you sure the media you are using is bootable? Did you prepare it using the Media Creation Tool?
