Additional user when I opened Windows10

I downloaded Windows 10 and when it opened for use it said hello to me and someone named John. I am concerned because of security issues while I a using it. There is only one computer in this house and I am the only user. How do I get rid of the unwanted John. I talked to someone at Microsoft on a call back and was told they would do it for 149.00 because it was told it was too technical. I asked if I could uninstall windows 10 and reinstall or get back Windows 8.1 and then reload Windows 10 hoping that would correct the problem. Any ideas?

I am pretty sure that whoever you called was not Microsoft and if you gave them your credit card number I would be worried. With that said there is a tutorial on ten forums to remove users and no it's not to technical

So you are not familiar with any user named John and that user has never had an account, perhaps even a test account, on that computer?

I have seen a situation where the install could not connect for a Microsoft Account and the install switched to a Local Account. If the connection was reestablished the system would jump back to the Microsoft Account sign-in and a user was also installed for the Local Account. In my case, the user only had the first letter of my user name since that was all I was able to enter before the system reverted back to the Microsoft Sign-in.

I'm sorry, I just had to giggle at that.
