I did not find any PCIe AHCI SSDs over 512GB. I actually had no idea that there were AHCI SSDs that were not also SATA .
I'm not here to play "games". I simply pointed out a statement error that the OP may not have been aware of. Something I've done in the past and will continue to do. It's nothing personal.
Anyway I have no definitive answer to carloscbj89 since there's a question of the m.2 keying layout. As an example, my Lenovo laptop uses a standard m.2 key, where my Asus laptop uses something different.
Peace:)
Sorry to be late to the party. I have this exact laptop.
it came with two ssd in raid 0. one is a 2260 and a 2280
After a lot of research I replaced the 2280 with a crucial 1TB m2 ssd.
CT1000MX500SSD4. Works perfect. It's booting from this ssd.
The largest compatible 2260 size ssd I found was the 256GB SanDisk SD6SP1M256G1102.
But the replies here were overly pessimistic I'm afraid.
I hope this answer still reaches you because with the 4K quantum dot screen I still find this a nice machine to work with.
Haven't tried any NVME sticks, but from what i gather it wouldn't have booted properly
The Crucial CT1000MX500SSD4 is a SATA drive, I see. Not a popular choice for M.2 drives these days, but it might be attractive for a laptop user.
I didn't find that the NX500J could use SATA M.2 drives, although they'd obviously fit physically.
Thanks for the update, after almost 2 years.
No problem. I thought I'd post for the record at least.
Given the fact that OP had the exact same laptop. And this 1 TB crucial SSD works very well with it. And according to crystaldiskmark even a bit faster than the original.
Finally, why upgrade an 8 year old laptop? That 15 inch 4K quantum dot screen for one 😜
