anyone able to clarify what these 5 partitions are?
My other pc's have 4, so i want to figure out what/why i have a difference here. Its one of those things :P

That looks like a standard UEFI Windows installation which has been upgraded.
It looks as if there are two recovery partitions (provide advanced startup options and automated repair). (1st and last). One will be in use- probably the larger last one).
The 4th is your ' C: ' of course.
The 2nd and 3rd are created when Windows is installed.

ok, i was kinda able to surmise a bit of what you guys mentioned via google. Here is the image from my other pc with a brand spanking new SSD i just put in. Not a fresh windows install but with a restoration from the old smaller ssd.
in comparison to the first image, it seems the difference is the final partition. I do have the macrium PE recovery environment installed, but thats the same on both disks.
Anything I can do to regain parity across the both of these? Can i get rid of one of those recovery partitions?

Only one will be in use, typically the larger. The one after the installation is likely to be that. Windows typically places this first when initially installed, then if more space is needed on an upgrade, creates one after the others.
This is expected to change in later builds, I believe.
One easy way to find out is to see which is the newer. Use a 3rd party partition manager, rt click the recovery partition, explore the content, see which is the newer from the dates.

seems computer management on the 4 partition system lists it as recovery (oem partition)
on the pc with 5 partitions it lists one as recovery (oem partition) and one as (disk 0 partition 5) and (oem partition)
so theyre both oem partitions but once is labled correctly as recovery.
perhaps due to being an image from an old disk without formatting first or something and i enver noticed until now

Thank you for your reply.
The OEM designation is misleading and has nothing to do with a much large manufacturer's recovery partition (factory reset).
You now have the means to discover which is in use.

ok, so reagentc shows the following.
i presume this means partition 5 is in fact the proper one?
Now i realize this is me being anal for lack of a better word, but im sure you get ALOT of that around here lol.
first does this mean im safe to delete the first partition?
second, can i then move the 5th to the front so its the same as everywhere else?
how would I do so and expand the regained space into my c partition?
Hope this isnt too big of an ask.

You can confirm the partition number if you wish thus:
Partition deletion and manipulation of C: is best handed with a 3rd party partition manager e.g. Minitool partition wizard or similar.

ive never used a 3rd party partition tool as ive never had the need. Now is as good a time as any to start.
Is that the gold standard/most widely used at current? Minitool?
