Windows 10 pro upgade from build 1809 to 1909

    Hello folks

My name is Tony a retired police chief (not a bad guy). I have been messing with computers since the early 90's when dial up and billboards were the thing. My knowledge is fair as a programmer; mainly Filemaker pro, but good as a user. My fixing ability is antiquated as it is not necessary to set IRQs and individual cards anymore. I am married and have been for 29yrs, no kids. My wife was an assistant professor at Gateway Community College; teaching cosmetology to both students and perspective teachers/instructors. Well that's about it, so thanks in advance for taking a look at my major (LOL) issue.

I have tried to update every way stated, update assistant, update tool, and nothing has worked. It gets all the way, but on reboot backs out saying "undoing changes to your computer." I have ran the DSM (not sure the rest) from powershell and no problems were detected. Anyway, I was going to wait until it was available through normal windows update, but cant find any information on when that might happen. So, is there anything anybody can think of? or does anybody know when November's 1909 build will be available.

    Hi anthonyrouse,

Please perform the following steps to troubleshoot the Windows upgrade failure:

    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) sfc /scannow
    6) chkdsk /scan

    7) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    8) run setupdiag > post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...rade/setupdiag

    9) There are log collectors used in another forum room
Run each V2 and DM and upload results directly into the thread
    BSOD - Posting Instructions

    10) List and uninstall all non-Microsoft antivirus software
(This includes always on and manual software.)
(This includes running the applicable antivirus uninstall tools for any AV that could have been incompletely uninstalled)

    11) List and uninstall all non-Microsoft firewall software

    12) List all Microsoft and non-Microsoft drive encryption software.
Uninstall all non-Microsoft disk encryption software

    Thank You

I tried removing my MaCafee Live Safe software, but did not try uninstall program to completely remove all traces. I will run the scans as suggested and complete uninstall and see if that does it. Again, thanks. This is not critical and I can probably wait till it becomes available through regular update process. Just not sure when that will be. If you are like me, I hate being beat up by my own computer on simple matters (LOL).

    The OP displayed Windows 1809.
There have been two Windows upgrade failures (1903 and 1909).
Windows are typically released twice per year.
It's extremely rare for a new upgrade to work without troubleshooting when there were multiple upgrade failures.

In case troubleshooting fails options are:
    a) reset save files
    b) custom install
    c) clean install
All of the above require the re-installation of drivers and applications.

They changed the installer from old systems and we have had a lot that the only option is a clean install
