Windows10 keeps trying to update - how to avoid

    Hi,

I had reserved my copy of Win10, but then revoked the reservation as I want to control the download and installation my self.
But even after I revoked the reservation, well before Win10 was release, my laptop still seems to have downloaded the Win10 install files.

Now it tries to update every day. Luckely it fails every time, with error code 80240020.

But how can I get rid of this?

I already removed the KB which installed the Win10 reservation tool. (KB3035583)
Also the GWX directory is gone.

    Any ideas???

Open Windows Update and hide the Windows 10 update.

Not possible. It's not listed among the available updates. Only when I go to "update history" is there a failed entry every day.

Click Start (or press Windows key + S for Windows 8.1 users)

    Type: view installed updates

    Hit Enter on your keyboard

Look through the list for the KB3035583 and KB2976978 update.

Right click each update and click Uninstall

As I mentioned at the start of this thread, KB3035583 is already unistalled and hidden.
KB2976978 is not installed, as I am on Windows7.
