KDE/MINT/XFCE/GNOME etc ==perhaps in "Linux speak" they are called Window Managers !!!! - but any screen display served by Linux's X-Server mechanism.
I agree though for servers / running VM's etc Linux doesn't need a GUI - everything can be managed via the CLI with help with things like VI etc for editing .

I was just giving you a hard time. Obviously anybody using a Linux machine for a desktop is going to want a window manager running. My use of Linux is pretty much for servers only, so they are unnecessary. For desktops, I use either Windows or MacOS.
