I just found that the "appraiserres.dll" method causes Windows 11 to hang on “Getting devices ready”.
I just found that happens on mine too. I think that the reason is because it isNOT
specific. It is general as mentioned in this snippet . . .
Download and install appraiserres.dll to fix missing or corrupted dll errors.
Developer Microsoft Corporation
Product Microsoft Windows Operating System
Description Compatibility Appraiser Supplemental Resources

The text in RED implies that it isGeneral
for more than ONEdll
.
IMO -
Microsoft is doing a big disservice to their customers by introducing W11, when W10 still needs to be refined and polished.
They just want another revenue stream.
I'll wait!

There may not be any more resources assigned to Windows 10 with the recent announcement of the end of support in 2025, this would mean, following the usual five years full support followed by Five years of extended support scheme, that we are well into the Extended period![]()
Hi, come the autumn, will "Windows 11" be
- an automatically offered upgrade
- an opt-in upgrade
or put another way, how will those wishing to stay with Win 10 (Home or Pro etc) actually do so do you think?
Clearly this should be publicised before release given that Win 10 has some years to run (presumably with security updates and fixes, and no further major build upgrades), and the implications for businesses.
