    ASUS P8B75-M LX - Cannot install w10

    Hello.

This computer is driving me crazy. Windows 10 PE (18383.412) boots just fine but I cannot install w10 on it.

CPU: Intel i3 third gen. (Ivy Bridge)
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
    1TB HDD (Seagate Barracuda-new)
BIOS updated to latest version (1403 - 2014) UEFI BIOS. w8+ aware

After first reboot, I always get some bsod or "Critical process died". And then installation gets halted.

    Any ideas?

This is tenth or eleventh try. I have now disabled everything I could from bios (including audio, sata->ide, serial ports (not physically available anyway), parallel port (not physically available anyway), high precision event timer).

Hi, is there any way you can choose not to receive updates as part of that- does it get that far?

Have you checked the RAM? I'd guess more is used during the installation than when running Windows PE.

Have you tried installing 1903 or earlier rather than 1909?

Hello Dalchina. Right now the installation is taking A LONG TIME... and now it is doing a checkdisk on Drive C

I think mainboard internal sata controller might be bonkers, because hard disks are doing weird things from the start. I will try changing SATA port again. The first one (6GBs/white) doesn't work at all.

I think I am going to check ram too.

As you can run PE, also worth running a disk check- didn't mention that as you said it's new.

If RAM +disk ok, try older Win 10 - 1903 say. And no updates during installation.

I have been able to install the x86 version. x84 version seems impossible to install. Because the pc has got 4GB RAM (minus integrated VRAM), I think I am staying at x86. v1909 is installed right now.

PS - I have corrected a typo in first post. RAM is DDR3.

Some driver incompatibility with x64 perhaps. Glad it worked out.

Only 3,19GB useable out of 4GB. Not a big deal I guess. Unless someone gives me some pointers about this mainboard, I am staying this way.

I spoke too soon. After rebooting it says unmountable boot volume. I am going to change CMOS battery, although BIOS time seems to be okay.
