1909 clean install - list pro licence

Cheers. Yes apologies your post did show me how to install pro - I was too busy ranting. I’d still like to install it from scratch though - seeing as I have a licence for it even though it seems to be invisible.

So quite simply, you need to install it to activate it. I thought it was already “there” as part of the install and just needed unlocking with the key to activate it. Seeing as it didn’t tell me which version was being installed.

So if I now look up the key that it’s activated with, will I be able to get the details of the pro licence key?

I used to use this with Win 8.1 & 10 but was informed this wasn’t suitable for Windows 10 even though it works.

I agree it’s a strange process which should be simple to achieve but it’s true that the Home key in the BIOS takes precedence & will install that version.
The PID or ei.cfg file will override this.
I have to do this when clean installing Win 10 Pro.

The standard setup if you have a digital entitlement is to install Windows but skip entering a key, this will then automatically activate Windows once connected to the internet.

You have three choices:

Upgrade rather than clean install. I don't clean install with each new feature update, I upgrade. My Pro machine with a Home key in its bios upgrades to Pro as it should.

You can add the ei.cfg to your install media to give you the choice of version to install, regardless of any key in the bios.

You can let Setup install Home then upgrade to Pro with the generic key.

Thank you. Yes I see. There was no option came up for skipping saying I didn’t have a key. As you say it just defaulted to the OEM home. On this occasion I did just upgrade and lost WiFi. Tried uninstalling last couple of updates which fixed it temporarily but not completely. So decided to do a clean install. WiFi is working but cuts out occasionally.
