    Well, I've got people waiting on me. I've been at this for the best part of five calendar days and have no results to show for it. I've lost track of how many Win10 UPGRADES I've done prior this, and I don't recall any of them being like this. And this is my own personal production desktop.

    Windows upgrade troubleshooting can be time consuming and tedious.

    Performing upgrades without troubleshooting should produce the same result.

    Consider custom install as per the earlier post.

    There were residual Avast files, incomplete tests, more troubleshooting steps, etc.
    The custom install should be the quickest method.
    Drivers and applications need to be reinstalled.

    Success in installing Win 10 PRO over C: partition.
    Slid in like it was greased.
    No drivers to hunt up, etc.
    All apps reinstalled by end of next day.

    Just thought you'd be interested in the outcome.
    (Could have saved 3 days had I started this way.)
