The startup and recovery settings were modified earlier in the thread using commands.

How come they were modified after the changes?

Please change startup and recovery so that:
    a) write debugging information displays automatic or kernel memory dump
    b) automatically restart is unchecked
    c) reboot to maintain settings

    Hi Zbook,

I keep losing replies 'in-progress' so maybe I can do it all at once.

Microsoft came in with 5 new updates which I installed. They went in OK.
I then made sure the "Normal Startup" was setup in MSCONFIG.
I then tried the Windows 10 Update -- no joy!

I read your post #14 but do not understand how to use Driver Verifier so I've not done anything with that.

SEATOOLS just doesn't want to work on my PC; neither the Windows nor the linux-based "DOD" version.

Here are the results of my last test:

I don't have any of your cloud repository accounts but I do have "transferbigfiles".
I can send the logs to you that way but I'd need an email address so you could be notified.
How do we get together securely on this?

Sorry to seem so dense but I'm an older guy..

I don't know how to get those log files to you. The archive is 4.9 MB which blows out the forum limit.

Remove any attached drives including USB and see if you can run Sea Tools with only the Windows drive.

Once you have new cloud accounts (one drive, drop box, or google drive) free share links can be posted into the thread.

When the next upgrade attempt is requested it will be using clean boot:

OK, I'll try to get one of those kinds of cloud accounts going.
The Clean Boot link you posted is specific to Windows 10 and I'm trying to upgrade Windows 7.

Which post (1 - 24) had a request for another thread?

This is a link for clean boot or clean startup for Windows 7:

If you prefer alternatives to troubleshooting a reset save files may be able to be performed followed by a free upgrade to Windows 10.

Here's a link to the log file I was trying to get to you. You may not want it now.

    Logs.zip - Google Drive

I'll have to run another try to get a clean boot example.

Please do not perform Windows upgrades until the troubleshooting steps are completed as Windows upgrades are expected to fail.

Consider the options in post #27.

Indicate whether you prefer them or troubleshooting.

They are backup options in case troubleshooting fails.

Well, I did use MediaCreationTool1909 to do the upgrade as in the below link.

I've never done the "Repair Install" before.
