    pin code

Hi Group, I'm installing a new copy of windows 10 and I'm prompted to set a pin code. I dont want a pin code. I cant find a way around this. Is there a way I can do this without setting a pin code? I used to enjoy this a lot. Now, it's just a bunch of anger towards MS. Appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks

    Hello,

I'm afraid there's no way around having to set up a PIN during installation, but you are able to remove the PIN afterwards.

Remove PIN from your Account in Windows 10

    older versions of w 10

I remember in the past, I was able to install W 10 without any password, pin or any other login. It just booted straight to desktop. Is that even possible any more? Is there anywhere that older versions of W 10 can be found? Thanks.

Just install without any internet connection and you can do that like old times.

Yes, you can still set netplwiz to automatically sign in to an account at startup.

When did Windows 10 start requiring a PIN to install? I've installed version 1909 many times and have never been required to enter a PIN.

Currently, it seems to only be required when setting up a Microsoft account while doing a clean install.

Well, maybe that explains it. I always start with a local account, because I want my user name to be just plain John. But when I do convert it to a Microsoft account, it does not require me to set a PIN.

Yeah, it only does this during a clean install. MS should drop that requirement.

Thanks to all who replied. Installing with no wifi did it. MS has taken control of the install process and you do things their way.
