    Media Creation Tool

I like to use the Media Creation Tool to create W10 on a memory stick (using Rufus) just in case, by downloading an ISO file.

Having said that, I have a question.

Is it necessary to go through the process every month, following the 'Patch Tuesday' updates, or is that unnecessary ? Do I only have to do that with each version (eg. 1903, 1909) ?

It takes quite a while to download the ISO file, so I only want to do that if I have to.

    Thank you.

You can use the Windows 10 Updates Installer script. You only need to download the latest Windows updates every month. I use the script to create an updated install.wim every month.

No, it is not necessary, or even of any use much of the time. The MCT image is not updated each Patch Tuesday, only once or twice in the supported life of its version. It just takes one cumulative update after a clean install to get the system fully up to date, so it doesn't really matter what build the usb installs as long as it is the current version (1909 at present).

I only make new MCT media when a new version is released (eg. 1903, 1909).

    Thanks - that's what I thought.

That'll save me a few hours every month

Thank you very much for that.

Thanks for that, interesting. Having said that, I'll pass for now as I don't understand it yet.
