    UEFI /BIOS Masterpassword reset recommendations

    Hi,
So I forgot my masterpassword to UEFI and i need to do a factory reset since my Laptop is ****ed but I have no clue which tutorial from Google is good or even will work for me so I need advice or better someone who can guide me through the whole process.
I have another Laptop that I could technically install Ubuntu on
I also have an external Harddrive (HDD 1Tb) to create a boot thingie.
    I have a Predator Helios 300
It def. has UEFI and not simple BIOS
    Windows Version: 10.0.18362 Build 18362

    Thanks in advance

I believe that removing the battery located on the motherboard, along with all other sources of power such as plug in power supply and main battery, then hold down power key for 15 seconds to remove all residual energy will clear the CMOS and the UEFI password. But, I'm not 100% sure the password is cleared with the CMOS.

BIOS passwords on laptops are not easily cleared without knowing the current password. The password is stored in an EEPROM instead of the desktop EPROM. Removing the CMOS battery will not erase the password like it does on a desktop PC. The EEPROM has to be reprogramed, and to do that you need to know the current password. Plus giving instructions on how to circumvent that is against forum rules.

Yeah, I already tried the battery method and it didn't work. But technically speaking it is possible to reset it right? Just need to find someone or a place where I can be instructed to do so while not being restricted by forum rules.
Thank you for your help guys
I will just leave my Twitter here if anyone stumbles across this once this is closed and has the same issue as me.

It is possible, I did it once years ago. The issue is, any forum that allows such discussions, likely isn't a forum you'd want to join. If push comes to shove and you have to sign up to get the info you need, us a disposable e-mail address.

    You might also contact Acer.

I wouldn't be surprised that they can handle in their repair shops. You will show as registered owner or can produce bill of sale.

No chance you scribbled it down on some piece of paper that came with device.

Yeah already contacted Acer and got a receipt to send them a package with my devices but no other information was given to me. No expected Pricing, time, or who is gonna do it, not even what they will have to do. I got more information from you here than from Acer at all. Also, I'm kinda suspicious because the last time I brought my device to one of the official support shops they scratched my HDD and lost 1 screw and messed 2 other so badly up I could only remove them with pliers.

I tried so many passwords already but they were all wrong XD. I only installed that password because I didn't trust the support the first time. Which brings me to the idea that I might end up telling them the password so I'm gonna call there sometime. Also, I'm bad with remembering, but I usually don't tend to forget smth. that important.
Oh yeah another question, when i enter the wrong password x times it shows a number on the screen but still has the option to input a password. Do these passwords still count or is this just for the "Masterpassword" and everything else is automatically wrong?

    Can't answer that question.

I would recommend a password manager. That is how I keep all my machine, site and other critical information.

After 3 tries did you get a message about the laptop being disabled and a box with numbers and letters? If you did see if Acer can use it to give you a master password. If not maybe you could try searching on google.

Yeah I got a box with numbers and letters and a field to keep entering a password and also an option to shut down the device. I contacted acer and they said they don't hand out Masterpasswords
