keep 1607 old version and/or add 1607 ltsb updates

    Hello,
My laptop is very old, but works great with 1507 ou 1607 version. I tried new versions but it was or slow or impossible to install. So I have to stay with 1607 version.

Please, I'm wondering the following :
    1) I know 1607 is out of support, anyway I still see on microsoft update catalog december 2019 a big security "cumulative update" including windows 10 LTSB 1607 AND plain windows 10. So it mean that through MUCatalog this version (normal 1607) is still supported??? Would be great! Manual updates don't scare me... Am I wrong?

    2) If I still use 1607, Am I able to continue using the store for some time? I really need 2 apps from the store.

    3) I don't want to upgrade to a new version, and at the same time I need the store. I found out that when I disable Windows update, the store doesn't work. If I would try to set to "metered" connection, could it be possible to use the store without updating to a new version of windows 10? Any ideas?

    4) I tried the 1607 LTSB and I really like it. On the web I found a way to add the store, and it was fine, because with LTSB we get security only updates, and it's what I want. I hate features updates, it breaks down my install on this very old laptop. I'm wondering if after some time the store will/will not stop to work. After all, it's a "hack".

    5) If I use "normal" 1607, and if what I suggest in question 1 is not possible, is it possible to extract/unpack and modify ltsb updates and install them manually (dism) on my normal 1607? Or through another way (specific Wusa.exe, etc).

I know it's a bit complicated. Windows as a service is too much for the laptop - ok, "buy a new one" I know, I know. I'm very old school (since 3.1) and really hate feature updates. But I understand security updates are important.

Thank you very very much for your suggestions!

    Laurent

    1) The Microsoft store should work with Windows 1607 if there are no problems with the OS/registry.

    2) Make a free backup image using Macrium:

Macrium Software | Your Image is Everything
Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

    3) Save the backup image to another disk drive or the cloud

    4) Find several flash drives that you can format (> or = 8 GB)

    5) Create multiple bootable Windows 10 iso (various versions):

Windows Download - #1 Windows ISO Download Source
Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
    TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)

    6) Backup drivers:
Backup and Restore Device Drivers in Windows 10

    7) The older versions of Windows have significant security risks so it's best to perform trial and error clean installations to newer Windows versions.
A lot of the installation can be performed overnight

    8) Hopefully others can answer the other questions
