want to format the current OS and put pro version then format again an

I have 2-3 questions. I just want to clear I am a bit weird guy who keeps doing a lot of experiments and I enjoy them a lot I devote a lot of time in my experiments. It is just that I have been a Linux guy and I am new to Windows 10 environment.
So I want to do a lot of experiments in my current Windows setup which is on my laptop.
I have a hp laptop which has
    1) Windows 10 home single language edition and microsoft office 2016.
The current setup has following structure I have a C drive and a recovery drive. The a couple of other things which can be seen in below screenshot.
want to format the current OS and put pro version then format again an-annotation-2019-12-17-180253.jpg
I have been playing with a lot of things in Vmware on this machine now I want to try them on real hardware.
The first thing I will try is formatting this complete thing and put a different OS may be Kali or some other variant of Linux and then dual boot etc or even try putting mac on this one.
What I want to know is how do I put all the current setup as it is back in case I have done my experiments or wish to bring every thing in current working condition I do not mind wasting hours to re install all softwares I have taken a full backup of every thing it is just that in past 10 years I did not formatted things above Windows XP. Last time I have used Rufus to format an old laptop which had SATA controller and the XP ISO I had did not had SATA drivers I don't remember now how I had combined SATA controllers in that XP ISO. (In case any one here remembers tools to do so do post their names at least it will help me recall) Today after 10 years I am playing with all kind of things on this machine.
What I want to know in the above screenshot I see
    a)Disk0 partition 1 260 Mb
    b)Recovery D
    c) C drive
    d) Win RE tools 980 Mb
what are the purposes of these partitions. When a person begins formatting with Windows ISO or USB then how should I go so that he can format with an ISO to have same structure as it came in factory settings on this machine.

Before I start messing around I want to know what these folders in screenshots rather say what these partitions do ?
Why are they needed and if I go around formatting whole system with a Linux variant or some other OS and I at a later date want to bring things again back to original state
    1) what should be my approach. How can I do it ? Do I need to create all these partitions like Win RE, Recovery disk, some boot partition and C drive or somthing else can I do.
I studied about Microsoft medica cretaion tool I have created an ISO from it but that ISO I have not burned on a USB, in case I burn it on a USB what should be correct way to do so.

2)I want to have multiple OS on a bootable USB like Windows 10,Windows 8 , Some Linux variants and then I want to keep formatting with all these OS this laptop. So how can I go doing this?
Erasing the bootloader and playing with every thing on this machine is what I want to actually try.

How to find out if this is UEFI boot kind of thing to put in Linux along side Windows on this hardware.
Suppose I mess up every thing badly how can I come back to original state. (taking backup of all device drivers from command line I will prefer)
    I have a
    3) 2TB USB disk where I have 400 Gb space remaining and all backup of this laptop is there.
    2) 2 USB disk one 8 GB , another 32 GB and a 16 GB usb disk to do all experiments.
I am doing all this for the sake of learning and my enjyoment. So do give your suggestions I will try every thing which I can.
I like to screw up every thing.

I also have plans to use MDT toolkit to have custom ISO of Windows 10 which I can use as a template to install on other laptops I have access to.So any help in that direction also will be helpful

Hi, as is so often recommended by tenforums members, the routine use of disk imaging to an external storage medium means you can then simply restore the image to get back to the state you were in (for the partitions imaged and restored). E.g. Macrium Reflect (free/paid).

Given your style of usage, you definitely need to learn to use disk imaging and maintain current images- this will help you get back to a working state without days of interaction seeking technical help.

what are the purposes of these partitions.
Google or other search engine can help you..

EFI, 'C:' (Windows), Recovery and a 16Mb partition Disk Management doesn't show by design are all created by default when UEFI boot Windows is installed.

You need EFI paritition to boot; Recover you could delete, but then you do not have automatic repair, advanced startup options e.g. via SHIFT + left click Restart.

Your larger Recovery (D:) will be a partition for a factory reset - to 'as bought'. You could delete that if no longer needed.

how should I go so that he can format with an ISO to have same structure as it came in factory settings on this machine.
If you're talking about a clean install, then you don't use an iso directly. You boot your PC from a bootable disk created e.g. using Microsoft Media Creation tool.

I studied about Microsoft medica cretaion tool I have created an ISO from it but that ISO I have not burned on a USB, in case I burn it on a USB what should be correct way to do so.
N.B. copying an iso file to a flash drive creates a data drive, not a bootable one.

Win 10 is installed to unallocated space and creates necessary partitions.

The tutorial section has a huge amount of info: searchable list:

Ok I went through tutorials of Macrium reflect Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect I have 1 TB hard disk in laptop. The question I have when I create image with free version of this tool do I need to have 1 TB space free on external USB to have the image? How to calculate storage requirements for this kind of image backup restore tools.

I did not knew what is EFI partition so I did not knew these keywords even to google so thanks for this suggestion.

You need about 80% of the USED space of the partition for the image file on the external drive.

I used HP Recovery Manager (it came pre installed)to create a 16 GB Recovery disk for the current OS which is Windows 10 Home Edition Single language. However it created any thing I am doubtful for that. It said in starting I can use the tool only once. There was a slight system hang refresh kind of thing in between when all this was happening.
Here are a couple of screenshots.

It took me really long time approximately 2 hours to create this USB stick.

However the USB it shows me as a blank thing G drive in screenshot and nothing else. I do not know if this USB can be used to do a fresh installation of Windows on this machine or I need to create another USB.

All the softwares which I have had and files I had I have taken a full backup on an external USB hard disk I used to keep taking backup occasionally. I read about the Macrium backup but since I have had already taken backup and the hard disk currently does not have much space left (only 400 GB left out of 1.98 TB for use) so I could not try Macrium Backup tool. The laptop has 1 TB hard disk and almost it is full.

Softwares I will be able to reinstall as per my understanding. My only concern is the partitioning scheme which will be destroyed in my experiments and I don't know how to re create that which came as factory settings.
Given Macrium reflect image backup is not practical for me currently any other possible solution in this situation I do not mind spending days to read documentations online or watch videos to get familiar with process.

Sounds like you need another 2TB external HDD.
