Dell Inspiron 17 3000 Setup - Keyboard problems

I am setting up a new Dell Inspiron 17 3000 Laptop Win 10 but the keyboard does not function with 'Enter your country and birthdate' during the Windows account setup process, nor does the Windows key function work. The region settings are UK.

I am not interested in setting up a Windows account but cannot make any progress to whatever should follow next (nor indeed shut down the Laptop)

Since resolved - functionality issue with drop-down dialog box (will not allow keyboard entry by design), unlike virtually every other Windows dialog box that I have encountered.

Hello Dave, You said this issue was resolved, could you please tell us how it was resolved?

It arose from a misunderstanding over a drop-down dialog box which will not allow keyboard entry.

Thank you Dave, I may be mistaken, but I gather you somehow used the dialog box (rather than the keyboard) to enter your birthdate. Could you please describe just how you used the dialog box to accomplish that? Or, did you completely skip providing a birthdate?

Curiosity: I've never seen an installation or setup of Win10 giving a place to enter a birth date. Maybe that's for the registration with Dell? I haven't purchased a new Dell Notebook for several years now.

From memory - it was part of creating a new Microsoft Account, and there were 3 fields/dialog boxes (DMY), and there was no means of bypassing the requirement.

Hi Dave, Yes, you remember correctly. If there was no means of bypassing the requirement, I was hoping you could remember how you manipulated those 3 drop-downs to put in a birthdate. Any kind of hint would be helpful.

Again, from memory, each field (D-M-Y) had a drop-down list, from which the appropriate value was selected.
