Dell Inspiron 1567 Laptop Wont Install Windows

Hello,

I Have a Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567, when ever i create a UEFI bootable USB recover whether it be With RUFUS, Windows Media Creation Tool or even with the Dell OS Recovery Tool Program it will only boot the USB (i can see the activity light on the Flash drive flashing rapidly) then Show the Dell Logo and then before the Spinning Circle of Dots loads or the windows setup it restarts and just keeps doing the same thing over and over again.

i Don't know if the UEFI is corrupt i have reset the BIOS and factory Reset the bios with the button keys that dell support website show still no luck i cant install windows 10 at all which is what the device originally came with but i bought it second hand for like 100$ but would like to get it working

The weird thing is i can Install Steam OS Beta or Ubuntu no problem with UEFI , just not windows, when i try to boot it with legacy support enabled and make the drive with Legacy (MBR) in RUFUS it loads to a blue screen and gives me a ACPI error

Convert the drive to GPT.

Boot the flash drive and it should install Windows 10 just fine.

Hi,

i have done both UEFI and Legacy both don't allow me to even get to the screen where you select the install language they Reboot right at the spinning circles part under the Dell/Windows Logo

would there be a way to convert the drive to GPT first (and are you referring to the USB or the SSD in the PC)

This is what my RUFUS looks like for my USB when i Make it

You can use diskpart to convert mbr to gpt and you can do this from the booted flash drive if you can get it to boot.
At the first window, press Shift+F10. That opens a Command Prompt window where you can use the diskpart commands shown in the above link.

Ill plug the SSD into my main PC VIA USB and try to make it GPT if it isn't already, i have done the suggested method to make the USB bootable in your second reply no luck in the past unfortunately

so it was already a GPT so i changed to MBR then Back to GPT after deleting the Volume and reformatted i still got the same issue sees the Flash drive in boot menu, i hit enter to load it the USB flashes for about 10-15 seconds then PC reboots, if i do the same settings and everything with a LINUX distro i get no issue, its very weird

for Windows You've missed a couple of steps --you need to create a small separate efi partition formatted fat32.

let's start again by re-doing the HDD/SSD.

assuming you've got some windows running in command mode (e.g via recovery USB etc) do the following

1) diskpart
2) list disk
3) select disk <nr> where <nr> is the disk nr of the one you want to install Windows on (the internal HDD/SSD)
4) clean
4) convert gpt
6) create partition efi size=100 <===================
7) format fs=fat32 quick <====================
8) create partition primary
9) format fs-ntfs quick
10) assign
11) exit


Now it should work --- the problem with previous advice in the posts is that you weren't told to create a separate efi partition which is probably why it won't boot.

Linux will boot on almost anything so long as it can read the MBR / Boot rec of the HDD and has a valid /boot file.

steps in red need to be done for Windows. !!!!!!! The efi partition also can't be NTFS - FAT32 is OK. Rest of HDD can be NTFS of course.

Ok i will try this when i get home thank you very much, would i be able to do it from another PC if i hook the HDD up to my Main PC with a USB to SATA controller??

Prior preparation of the SSD to install Windows 10 to will not solve your issue. In addition, when installing to a blank SSD, no preparation is required. It can be MBR or it can be GPT. As long as the entire SSD is unallocated, with no partitions defined on it, you select the unallocated space after the custom install option in Windows 10 setup and click on next to continue the install. But you are nowhere near that point because you can't get the USB flash drive to boot.

In cases of stubborn computers that just will not boot the Windows 10 setup flash drive to the first setup screen, I've booted the computer from a separate Windows PE drive, such as Kyhi's recovery tools or the Macrium Reflect Rescue Drive. Once that is loaded, mount the Windows 10 installation ISO file (or insert the separate Windows 10 install flash drive) and run setup from it.

I’m not able to boot any winPE disks I have tried that aswell. I will try the Macrium one to see if that works. It just seems so weird I can’t get windows setup to even boot no matter the flash drive or method of creating the drive
