    Upgrading From 1903 to 1909

So I decided to get back into Windows after switching to Mac due to work requirements. Well I see that 1903 is available and after all the other necessary updates on my system HP Probook G3, Windows updates find the Update and it downloads, goes thru the whole we're getting things ready and then it abruptly fails with the following error message: "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)"

After doing some google searching I did try and run an sfc /scannow and while it did say it found some corrupt files they were not able to fix.

I downoaded the 1909 file which was 5GB however after mounting the iso it looks like I am trying to install Windows 10 all over again.

    Any Help is apprecaited.

When SFC cannot fix a problem it usually means the originals in the component store are corrupt too. DISM can repair the component store, after which SFC should be able to fix the system corruption.

Sometimes you may need to go through the SFC and DISM steps up to three times (restarting after each) before SFC says there's no more corruption. See these tutorials.

Run SFC Command in Windows 10

Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image

So I try and run the DISM repair and it keeps telling me it can't find the file. I have an ISO file mounted in Windows 10. well it's the manual install of the 1909 update. Maybe I should just create a thumb drive and boot it from that and see if that installs it?

If you make sure you are connected to the internet then run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (without the 'source' or 'limit access' options) then DISM should find the files it needs online and download them.

That would do a clean install, if that's what you want. For an in-place upgrade you run Setup from the root of your mounted ISO.

I ran the code you told me to and maybe it's becuase I am connected to my work wifi but here is the error message:

    Error: 0x800f081f:

    1909 failed

I downloaded the 1909 iso file on the 12th using the Create Media tool and today I ran setup to install it.

I used the standard options and didn't change anything. After behaving as it should, it then gave me a message that
"We couldn't install Windows 10" and my PC has therefore been put back the way it was. See screenshot.

There is nothing on the Troubleshooting tips webpage that mentions the error fault shown on the screenshot.

I haven't tried to install it again, but I have run Image Health CMD.

Does anyone know what the error code means? OR, what else I should try.

This is what you should be doing with the ISO file you downloaded:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Oops. I didn't notice that this nearly two month old thread had been hijacked....
